It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense... But I guess there's no one stopping Dion Timmer from calling it a VIP. But I really don't see how this isn't just a remix. At the end of the day, the artist gets to call it what he wants, whether it be a remix, bootleg, VIP, refix, edit, etc. etc. I think they decided to call it a VIP so it could be released with the rest of the VIPs.

i’ve seen VIP used to talk about someone remixing their own track but the proper meaning is “a track reserved for the artist and Very Important People” so basically unreleased tracks for shows and mixes.
