I'd love to see one of these for any of Tim Follin's work on the NES. That guy did some crazy work with the four channel limit.

@@vgmdeconstructed Silver Surfer, Solstice, and several others across a varietyof consoles. Those two specifically are NES games. Check out Solstice's title track to see what I mean.

This is really cool, I've never put any thought into how 8 bit music was made and this makes it make sense to me, something I'm still unsure about is why the instruments are labeled how they are, are those references to different tones the sound processor in the NES can produce? Also seeing this deconstructed really pointed out to me how "Square 2" overpowers the other channels in the final mix, before it all sounded much more blended in together, I wonder what it would end up sounding like if "Square 2" were stepped up to a slightly higher tone.

The NES has 4 main sound channels, there are two square channels and the triangle wave and noise channels.
