I really like how X has matured a lot since the first Mega Man X game. In the beginning of the series, X was a concerned, yet gentle Reploid who would hesitate on the battlefield, but it was actually mercy that caused this, not inexperience. By X8 and Command Mission, X has grown into a brave, young man, and comes to terms that violence is sometimes the only way to restore peace. He is more battle ready than ever before, and X will absolutely stop at nothing to fight for and defend his allies, and the world.

I think it has to do with X's AI aging. If I remember correctly he was supposed to be a 14 year old teenager when he first woke up, but with years passing by he starts aging to the point where by the 23rd century he has the wisdom and mental age of an old man.

I myself also like X's new design over his regular base design, which is kind of silly since I'm usually the one saying "simplicity can speak more then eccentric". Personally I see this as a gradual ageing of his design, similar to the advanced armours that are always a part of his games. It represents his experience and time becoming more and more self-dependent, stronger, braver and all the other things that come with becoming a leader. After all one of the main parts the enhanced armour existed was to make you have something to look forward to as over time the enhanced armour made you look more like Zero, a character who basically saved your like and straight up said that you will be as strong as him. It may be overly complex, but I find it as more of a unique armour of X's.

You see this is why we can have great RPG's that no one has ever heard of and its freaking astonishing on how this is the title music and the music for Dr. Psyche's 2nd form is just quite amazing and for what it is was at the time for PS2 and GameCube these were huge accomplishments for the soundtrack. Too bad it didn't sell well because now it goes for up to $75 for the GameCube version and don't get me started on the PS2 version being roughly $81 or so this game is a hidden gem in the PS2 and GameCube library and I encourage anybody to buy the game in which you shall have your mind blown the second you start the game.

This Was X's Final Form meaning X8 Was a Prequel to this. Yes Command Mission is Canon do some Research on the Timeline at Capcom's Old Webforums and InaFune Himself says how this game would have tied in with Events after X8 and How it could have had Rock Man Online be it's Sequel.

another indicator that x command is after x8 is that command mission is set in 22xx whereas x8 is set in 21xx. I think the next game chronologically after command mission will have cyber elves involved in the story and possibly the events in that game could be what caused the war that takes place

SPOILERS Honestly I kinda wish this was mixed in during the last stretch of Final Redips' boss fight. X was once again going to save the world and about to punish Redips for thinking he can take it. Turning the tides against the final jerk standing in the way of peace is an awesome concept. It's why I love defeating the final boss of Persona 5, after all. Wasn't the theme song, but it was still uplifting. Hell, this plays during one of the act 2 bosses, so might as well make it awesome for this.

I'm gonna guess and say it has something to do with what the writer's were thinking regarding the boss himself. there's not much difference between him and Professor Gaudile, except or their ideals. A small thing that made big difference in what they would accomplish with their intelligence, and something that tied in to the moral of the game, too. You could say the moment where Dr. Psyche transforms into something crazy-looking and harder while the music kicks in highlights something key.
