After seeing this can't possibly see myself ever goikg back to playing the original. This has improved upon X8 in soo many ways while retaining the Nostalgia of the 16 bit era

This stage is actually a stage now! Gone is the janky 3D shooter on rails, I love how you can try to keep the Ride Chasers throughout the stage and Avalanche Yeti, I also love how it uses graphical elements from the intro stage of X1 Central Highway, it has to be one of my favorites in the demake, if X7 ever gets a demake I wonder how they’ll handle the intro stage of that game since you start as Axl in a Base and then also go to a familiar Highway again, even fighting those Beecopter enemies.

There is a project to demake X7 into a PS1 game, unclear if they will have Axl or not but Zero is confirmed in, with character swap. Search "Mega Man X: Code Red"

Honestly his og fight wasn't bad either, but it's nice to see it further refined
what id there was a boss you had to keep running away form on the street and has to keep firing on it to stop it ? what if megaman had to use rush back pack and power ups and had to take down a huge airship before it could distroy the city . or what if some one is remakeing the old robot masters but giving them super powers . or what if some one make the megaman game we all want .. megaman the BOSS MEGA WARS where you have to go trowout the world to fight all the the bosses of all the old games to find out who is behind the war that is attacking the humans and reploids ?

I'm wondering why the game is widescreen instead of the 256x224 ratio? That's what the SNES emulation uses.

The game isn't trying to be SNES accurate. I'm pretty sure the boss sprites are way too detailed and colorful for a SNES game too, it's only taking inspiration from the snes games but taking liberties.

@@MechanicalRabbitsaside from graphics and animation the game is trying to SNES-ish or let's say trying more to be like the SNES trilogy If you read the desc in sonicfangameshq he says most stuff from x8 won't be implemented but something similar that has existed in the SNES trilogy will replace it instead, but yeah it's sad that he made this excuse to not have zero as playable character when zero was playable in X3 which was a part of the SNES trilogy

@@blueshot333 He was probably trying to keep it at a reasonable scope for what's a fangame being done in someone's spare time. Scope growth's a serious threat to projects like these.

@@KieranHarris44 I can see your point but will still have to disagree on the "scope" part. Having what are essentially core aspects of the original game (3 playable characters for example) should be more than within acceptable range, especially considering something like MMX Engine, another project being made in spare time by the creator, already does just that, even if technically unnecessary for its purpose. Hence why "making it closer to the snes titles" feels more like an excuse than a proper reason.

I'm glad someone did this and all, but I wish more care went into making it look like an authentic snes game. It kinda just looks like every other 2D indie game

@@Koraxus The biggest thing is the lack of textures on the enemies. They look very flat. There's a lot of areas on them where it's just one solid color and no texture or shading. That would never happen in the original 3 snes games, they always made the most out of every pixel. Another obvious thing is why the fuck is it widescreen? And the thing that bugs me the most in this and every other 2D pixel based indie game, is the fake low resolution. Each pixel is supposed to be a box on a grid, meaning you can never have pixels overlapping each other, and this game and many others gets this completely wrong which completely ruins the retro aesthetic. Other than that, there's a lot of other small things that ruin it, like too many frames of animation, too many colors on the screen, more sprites on screen than what the snes was capable of, animation frames overlapping each other (similar to the resolution issue), and the music very clearly not using 16 bit samples.

@@Koraxus That's a damn near perfect game. It's in widescreen, which is stupid, and the frame rate is too high, but those are its only problems. Overall, that game was made with much more passion, nothing was half assed. It looks like it could be a snes game, other than those issues I mentioned. It doesn't look like an indie game at all.
