Because he's not technically designed to be a combat Reploid. He worked under Harpuia's unit when he was nameless...he only had his serial number TK-31, meaning that he was a mass produced Reploid (like the Pantheons- only more intelligent). However he did have military and rapier handling experience and, more importantly, gave himself a name, making him stand out from the rest. You have to admit for someone who worked as a data gathering and archivist Reploid, he made fair progress.

It's funny because him being an archivist was what allowed him to learn of Project Elpizo, which gave him the drive to do all that he did in the game.

Well apart from sending in resistance forces to ambush the guardians which got his entire force killed and leading to him almost dying as a result leading to them retaliating with a bomb and he was too weak minded and scarred from the invasion which allowed him to be corrupted by the baby elves and release a dangerous threat while slaying X even though he did some progress he did go back on himself

Regardless of his corruption, Elpizo was and always will be one of the greatest characters the series has ever seen. He lived a meaningful life and died a noble death.

He had an admirable motive he was under a lot of pressure as a leader of the resistance and I understand his actions but he was too narrow minded and brash which nearly lead to the death of the entire resistance and himself and lead his forces to death due to his reckless behaviour lead him to be corrupted by the baby elves and release the dark elf leading to X's death all to create a utopia for reploids by exterminating humanity not realising ciel a member of the resistance was human, though a good character wasn't the best imo and the worst part he was just a plot device to demonstrate the power of the baby elves and the dark elf

@@Freak532To be fair, he lost them because Ciel had to bypass whatever mechanism had to be used to wake Zero up, since she didn’t have the time to go through the whole process, though it’s implied he begins to regain them throughout the Zero series. I headcanon that it starts around here, as Elpizo unintentionally quotes the dying words of Iris, and by the end of Zero 3, he’s mostly regained them, with a few gaps that get filled in between the timeframes of Zero 3 and 4.

It's a shame his second form is so bland (except for the awesome transformation scream). Elpizo really comes out of the gate on fire with his first form, and I'm sure I'm not the only person who just evaded for a while in order to see what all kinds of attacks he had with that beam rapier.
