@dr103 It makes perfect sense to me. I doubt he thought his own Dalek plot was "pointless." Granted a weakness of the episode I accept is how random Amy and Rory divorcing and getting back together is within one episode.

From what I've seen, some of the hate seems to come from people who fell in love with the show during the RTD/Tennant era, and are hyper-critical of what followed.

I think it's pretty good that Megan knows Clara becomes the next companion since it was announced that Clara would be replacing Amy and Rory this series before it aired and her appearance here is shocking; teasing the story arc already for those in the know before we reach The Snowmen.

Sorry Megan, sometimes Dr Who casts the same actor as two totally different characters. Just like Karen Gullan was a soothsayer in Fires of Pompei, then became a companion; Freema Agyeman's character died in Army of Ghosts, then she was a companion the next season. You've met Oswin, played by Jenna Coleman. Maybe in one of the next few seasons you'll see Jenna portray a companion named Clara. I loved the look on Megan's face when she learned Oswin was a Dalek! I missed the cushions, btw!!! :)

I can praise Steven Moffat as always for being adventurously creative. Because the Dalek Puppets were really freaky and terrifying. I would like to see them return, they are really underrated. And as this episode has a Moffat-style twist with Oswin as the Dalek, I love it, as it shows that the Dalek can also turn other living beings into Daleks, though I know it has been referenced before, but it this episode it is referenced in slightly more terrifying but subtly graphic form.

The Daleks converting other beings is old canon that wasn't much used, and people likely forgot it after the series 1 finale with Eccleston where it wasn't clear if they convert the people and program them to be Daleks or just use them as raw materials.

He has loved you unconditionally, pretty much for as long as you've known each other. But all you EVER did to him was treat him like dirt and a spare part! 😠 You were marrying him and yet on your wedding night, you NEVER, not even _one_ moment told him that you loved him! You were not capable of waiting for 40 years for him and yes I know that you were aging but so what! You knew that it would've been Rory who would've to come for you and yet, you couldn't! (Amy picks herself back up again and then retorts her) Amy: I don't remember any of that, it didn't happen for me. (Hanna shoves her down again and then comes back at her with a snarl) Hanna: But still, it happened for him! Did he ever tell you what he said when he found the older version of you? HUH?!? (She looks over her shoulder at Rory and back to Amy to see if she would answer her question. Amy doesn't say anything and Hanna breaks the silence) Hanna: No, of course he didn't! He'd want to spare your feelings but quite frankly I don't give a toss about your feelings. He told you that you growing old did NOT mean _anything_ to him. He told you that all he cared about when seeing you old is that you hadn't been able to grow old together. So how in all the damn universe could you EVER think that he would have thought of you any differently just because you can't have kids?! Have you never heard of "ADOPTION"? And did he ever tell you that he can remember it? That he remembers EVERY second of (she points to the right side) sitting outside of that box. He didn't have to do it! You would've been perfectly safe on your own, but he waited anyway. Because YOU (she points sharply directly at her with her finger) were ever so slightly more safe with him there. He single-handedly, dragged the Pandorica out of a burning building. He was made of _plastic_ and he walked _through the fire_ for you! And honestly, I cannot see why. He deserves someone who loves and appreciates him, but he settles with just needed by you. As long as you need him around, he. Is. Happy. And yet, somehow, (she inches closer into her face and screams at the top of her lungs) ***YOU'RE TOO HIGH AND MIGHTY TO SEE THAT!!!!!*** (Hanna clenches both of her fists and inhales a really deep breath just as she was about to scream more at her but pauses as Rory clips the nanoblocker around her left wrist. Hanna whirls around and stares at him and the nanoblocker for a minute then turns back to meet Amy's gaze. Amy doesn't say a word. Hanna looks at her and lets in a short deep breath as she is about to finish, but pauses herself again and heaves a slow sigh. She walks up to Amy and says some final words to her. She says it in a low, firm voice) Hanna: It needed to be said and you needed to hear it. (Amy looks at her, still silent. And watches Hanna walk away to the far side of the teleport pad with her face buried in her hands) So what do you think about this interesting and amazing quote? What i don't like about this episode is Dalek Context, when we last see the Daleks "Correctly" is in Victory of the Daleks when the "last of the time war Daleks" initiate the Progenitor into creating the paradigm daleks, 5 in total, the next time we see them with the timelines back in sync is the wedding of River Song where we witness the supreme Dalek have his eystalk relieved of him by the Doctor. Then series 7 pops up with hundreds of bronze daleks, a random supreme paradigm dalek and a few other paradigm Daleks, so when people state that fans "prefer the RTD ERA Too Much" well from a contextual point I DO, as when he written the Daleks he would show them escape for future episodes, Example: Dalek Sec Shouts "Emergency Temporal Shift" and the next time we see a Dalek Story he and the Cult of Skaro are in it CONTEXTUALLY!

nah he just doesnt want to retread old ground and write another basic dalek/s goes round shooting things. i like that he always tried to find something new to do with the most overused villain. the fact is there is not much to them. its why he used other villains as much as possible because it allows for more interesting stories. that said i think this one is pretty good anyway. its def better than the series 3 ones and also better than journeys end where all the daleks just stand around doing nothing and then get beaten because they decided to leave all the right buttons to beat and control them lying around for anyone to use.

I feel like you've misunderstood Moffat's take on them if anything. Moffat isn't the kind of guy to write same old Dalek stories that we've seen countless times, and does something more unique and different with them instead. Also, surely Destiny of the Daleks and Death to the Daleks at least are rated lower than Asylum.

Joe Horrell Did I say unique = good? I’m just saying his stories are more unique and ambitious than what came before. And obviously it hasn’t been done before or since because it is unique. And my comparison of Asylum to Destiny and Death was in response to OP saying he thinks this is the worst Dalek story, again I didn’t say it was good imo just that those two are terrible Dalek stories and generally viewed unfavourably by fans whereas Asylum is only mixed by fans.
