A tip for getting the first row of tile straight in a shower or tub surround is to use a ledger board. That tile is cool though. You did great👍

having tiled 1.5 showers myself, everything you said and did seems reasonable. If you've done all the prep properly that red moisture barrier stuff leaves you with a technically functional shower, the tile is just aesthetic on top.
