Thank you, this procedure worked for my 2007 Mazda 3 BK 2.0L where water pump had the chirping noise. Loosening the water pump screws did not work that easily for me as pulley kept rotating even under the belt pressure. I prevented the water pump pulley from rotating by using the trick from another KZbin video: a long flat blade screwdriver placed between 2 of the 3 screws heads and used a 23cm long 10mm double ring spanner to loosen the screws one by one. To remove the pulley - removing the belt tensioner held by those 3 screws is a must.

In lbs, ft lbs bruh I may not have the same year as you do but it’s probably the best reference I have to go off of thank you so much. It seems like car manufacturers don’t want us doing our own maintenance because I could NOT find any information on anyone this anywhere. Excellent step-by-step instructions, even give all the torque settings, thanks! The only thing I would skip the RTV on the water pump O-Ring. Did that on my Honda coolant connector pipe that sits down below the intake - back of engine. PITA to get to - had to do it twice because of the failed seals with the RTV. My bathroom sink faucets use O-Rings without any RTV and they stop the flow of water just fine!

Some (not all) water pump and many other O-rings/seals are meant specifically to be installed DRY.
@Mech-Bandit Жыл бұрын
You’re wrong, the o ring is installed lubricated. For this case with coolant
@KingZoneOne Жыл бұрын
@@Mech-Bandit NOPE...YOU'RE wrong. I lubricated mine believing the same thing, and guess what happened. While driving after my car warmed up, all of my fluid came spurting out AT the O-ring, because the O-ring moved around. And no, I didn't over lube it. I came home, took everything apart, cleaned everything out, put the O-ring back in DRY, and I've been good since. Not every car or O-ring needs that, and even the Bentley Manual for Audi says to put it in dry. As you press the pump in, you gently twist it back and forth to keep it from binding or rolling. Lubing it caused mine to roll. That's it.
@FleetTech97 Жыл бұрын
Hopefully no one takes this advice. O rings always need some sort of lubricant. If you ring lubricate them the o ring will roll and cut itself. Gaskets on the other hand are usually installed dry unless specified.

Never put RTV on an O-ring. Use some coolant to lubricate it, that's it. RTV is used on gaskets NOT O-rings.

The rtv is mostly for the flange portion of the pump. But like mentioned above, unnecessary on the outer surface of the O-ring. Could even negatively affect the function of the O-ring.

Anything I should watch out for in these repairs? I am also going to clean the throttleboy and EGR valves. Any tips on that? And I know the car will be all wonky upon reconnecting the battery and isnt actually dying and is instead reprogramming and needs 20 minutes or so to idle, then idle under load to recalibrate.

I just finished replacing my water pump on a 2011 Mazda3 sport, got done at 10:30 pm and it was -11 degrees celcius. There doesn't seem to be as much space between the front of the motor and the frame as shown on this video. the hardest part was trying to drain the rad, the plug is bottom left and I unscrewed it all the way and no fluid came out and I couldn't get the plug out. so I just covered the alternator with a plastic bag and as I took the pump off I let it drain into a container.

That music is terrible...... you didnt mention anything about the oring getting caught.. i just did this job as part of another one and when i reinstalled the old pump( wasn't replacing it) the oring got pinched and cut in half allowing coolant to puke everywhere. My favorite lube to use on orings is silicone spray. It is effective and wont do much to anything you spray it on by accident. if you are having problems getting the pump out just remove the 2 bolts for the pass motor mount and jack the motor up a bit to clear the frame rail better.
