Steve knows what it's like to lose a child, he knows that pain and that life. He's not going into this lightly. He knows and accepts that there is no chance for Oliver, he's not gonna come back to them and live a long, healthy, normal life. There is no miracle waiting at the end of this tunnel and Steve is doing the brave thing and putting Oliver first.

This storyline is so very hard for me to watch... Although it's not the same, my mum was in hospital in February of this year, with my father and I having to make these decisions. My mum always said that if it came down to it, and there was nothing else they could do, or she would live as basically a vegetable, that she didn't want to continue "living"...and that we should let her go. My father fought this for the same reasons Leanne did, thinking my mum would come out of it miraculously, when he knew deep down that she wouldn't, he just didn't want to accept it because my mum was (and will forever be) the love of his life. Dying with dignity is such a hard thing for ANYONE to have to decide for someone, young, old, parent or child. This storyline hit me so hard, it's so very hard to watch without thinking of me mum, I cannot even FATHOM what it's like to see it reversed. I don't know if I'll be able to watch Oliver's last episode, because of the emotional impact...but congrats to Corrie for singing a light on these kinds of diseases, I'm proud of the story writing and acting above all else ❤️❤️

Why they always drag these storylines on n on Think most people are just watching for the Geoff showdown
@jenepen4 жыл бұрын
I agree wholeheartedly. This has dragged on too long, sad and all that it is, it's TIME Leanne. I'm waiting to see Geoff get his just desserts, and that storyline is dragging on for way too long also. I just cannot wait to see that smug smile of Geoff's disappear when he finally gets what is coming to him. Cannot happen soon enough.

@@jenepen 100% you're right. It's just so unrealistic with Oliver, I cant see many parents going through courts ect. Yeah definitely they need to hurry and end this Geoff storyline now. In the real world it would never take this long, they lose grip with people quickly

If the writers are gonna write oliver off then they should do a storyline where leanne happily gets pregnant with another baby or twins. Not to replace oliver in any shape of form like that now but to write something positive to bring motherhood she wants back. Be better than so many negative stories

As hard as this storyline is for some people, mitochondrial disease is very much a *real* thing, and not many people know that much about it, myself included. That's why I think Leanne is fighting as hard as she is, she didn't think something like this could *EVER* happen to one of her children, and no parent should have to go through ANYTHING like having to decide whether their child lives or dies. I understand people's frustration with this sl, (because it's gone on too long, or Leanne needs to face reality, or whatever it may be) but at the same time I highly applaud Corrie for bringing it to the front lines and educating the masses. It's exquisitely written, and the help that Corrie writers have got from numerous charities makes it all the more real. We will *never* know what these kind of families are going through, and Corrie has tackled this with sensitivity and grace, while maintaining a timeline that is true to life (you can't just go oh okay it's over pull the plug and we're done, moving on to the next scene/storyline). I couldn't be more proud to call myself a Corrie fan ❤️
