@Liam Tate Most modern houses have Yale locks on their front doors so they lock automatically when you shut them. I lived in the country many years ago & you could walk straight in. Visitors always rang the bell though except the district nurse who would walk in calling out hello. I kept it that way until a woman rang one day to ask if she could go out with my husband. When I was none too pleased she drove to my house stormed in & started screaming abuse at me in front of the kids saying she needed a good night out. The children were terrified so I threw her out & bolted the door. I never left it unlocked again.
