Imho, that's exactly why the powers that be chose this twist for the storyline, so they can continue this on again, off again, head spinning, BS relationship with Mac. One which makes Charity look like a desperate older woman, trying to hold onto a relationship with a much younger man, that she never really wanted and never truly worked, except to provide drama for the show. He's done nothing but con her, from day one, into believing they should be together and that they are soul mates, all because he can overlook her faults, since they are so much like his own. They've had the character of Charity take more lies, manipulations and total BS from him. then do more 180 degree turns on a dime, than this character ever would have done before. They've turned Charity from a strong, independent, though conniving woman, into a doormat for Mac. As if he's her last chance at being or feeling loved. They've had her hang her own self upon a "lover's cross" for this younger man! And although Emma's acting is superb, it's not a good look for middle aged women. Especially not one as strong as Charity once was.

@@mockingbird1353 Agree their relationship sucked from the very start, because he had to manipulate her into being with him and well as even admitting she loved him. But, Imho the show can't afford to separate Charity and Mac, on any permanent basis, simply because Mac's character can not carry on a storyline of his own, at this point. Not throwing shade on the actor, himself, cuz he's as much a victim of the story arc as we are. But I've come to believe his character actually NEEDS Charity in order to stay interesting and relevant. Otherwise he's just a handsome face, with nowhere to go, no one to take care of him or put up with his immature, lying, manipulative ways. Except his sister, of course. And if you ask me, Mac has some issues from his past that makes him attracted to seemingly flawed and vulnerable women, like Charity and Chloe, which he knows how to manipulate with his boyish good looks and especially his inherent charm. I know many here have said he chose Charity over his child, but... I don't see it that way. I think he chose what's best for Mac, at the moment. Bringing up, "Get our stories straight..." was a plot twist line that appeared to be for Chloe's sake, not Charity's. But it backfired. Chloe didn't jump the way he assumed, and turned the tables on him. Now he was not only gonna lose his son, but his meal ticket, in essence, if Charity went to jail!! And you can be sure, Charity will pay the price for his choice. She always does. She's always been the show's favorite punching bag, because Emma does such an excellent job of bringing this character to life and maintaining the audiences' attention. Oh wait... do you have any idea why there are so few yt channels uploading these? Loss of interest or... the show prohibiting it? Just wondering cause I can't find one where Charity actually stabs Mac, although I'd LOVE to. LOL. Wanna see Emma's performance mostly. Or did they even air that part at all to make it more suspenseful to find out what actually happened?

I know Charity is no saint but Chloe essentially wished her dead instead of her career criminal ganster father who has already had run ins with Chas, Cain, Caleb, Nate and Aaron. Like there is bitterness and then there is wanting your criminal father alive and the wife of the father of your child dead instead

Chloe didn't exactly give him much choice here, though. Either he let them go or Chloe would lie to the police, possibly ending with Charity being sent down. I'd hardly call that 'picking Charity over Chloe', especially since Chloe was probably going to take off with Reuben regardless of what he chose.

@@Aimee0206 Chloe proved the point of Mack always choosing Charity over Reuben, like it would not be a choice for most others, the child comes first. Mack even realized it finally. I would have preferred giving Mack some visitation, like Charity did with Ross and Moses. But she's just totally done with him.

Except Mack's not trying to take Reuben away? He's just trying to be in his son's life, and he was a good dad to him. Chloe's not exactly innocent in all of this, she's the one who decided to use Reuben as a weapon purely so that she could get back at Mackenzie for crying out loud. She's as much to blame for creating this mess as Mackenzie is.

When Chloe was pretty much saying she hoped it would've been Charity who got shot I wished it would've been Chloe. It's hard to feel symphaty towards her when she's always bitching. You want Chloe to leave town (from other comments), but then don't want Reuben to go with her, so you're fine with the child not seeing the mother, but oh no, the "poor" father being left out... This is why most people absolutely don't care about the child in actuality, but only want to hate on Chloe. It's harsh, but he can blame himself, of course he's going to blame Charity... If Mack truly wanted Reuben, he would have chosen so, he proved her exact point of always choosing Charity, can't get more clear than that, and even Mack realized it here (finally).
