Shame the posited reasons are complete nonsense since lions are larger than lionesses and you don't really need a hugely increased body size to lay eggs - most infant dinosaurs were tiny and grew pretty rapidly. A better subject would probably be sexual dimorphism in ratites.
@jacksnell5
@jacksnell5 6 жыл бұрын
For sexual dimorphism, a better example would be modern day birds of prey: eagles, falcons, hawks etc. The females are up to 1.5x bigger. The reason for this is the mother needs to be bigger than the father to protect the chicks from being eaten by their Dad.

I can't argue with that. T-rex really is an amazing animal, it's like one minute I love it because I find out something interesting about it, but then some ass hole fan boy ruins my look at T-rex. Um, you're ignoring the studies again. They show it had scales on its upper body as well, including in those places that Yutyrannus had feathers. It's closest relatives did too. Now it may have had feathers elsewhere that we aren't seeing. However you are reading in feathers where you want them to be, not based on what the studies are saying. Also it should be noted that only two tyrannosauroids were shown conclusively to have feathers and one of them (Dilong) was a tiny basal tyrannosauroid and not even a tyrannosaurid. Based on a purely Bayesian look at the data if T. rex had feathers we would expect to find much more evidence of it, either on T. rex itself or on many more closely related genera than just Yutyrannus. So no it doesn't make the most sense to say T. rex was mostly covered in feathers. At most it may have had a few bristles on its backside. You're pulling a Cathy Newman.

I've seen that video before. It uses the same sort of hasty generalizations. Yes T. rex may have had a few bristles on its backside, but it is unlikely to have been covered in feathers, and lacked them where Yutyrannus, it's closest feathered cousin, had them.

Let's clear something up. First off, yes there is a current hypothesis going around that young Tyrannosauridea where feathered and as these animals grew older there feathers became "scales" or scale like feathers known as reticula found on the feet of birds. But this has 0 evidence to support it. Yutyrannus and Dilong isn't proof of young Tyrannosaurids having feathers but adults as well. And for T.rex to loose feathers, they wouldn't just fall off, because feathers can't grow on scales. They'd have to become scales. But not true scales. You see if you look closely the scales of Rex look like bird reticula. And if these scales are indeed avian scales, than that would basically prove a feathered baby or feathered winter Tyrannosaurus. Although this has no evidence and needs to be tested. So baby feathered and adult scaly is more of speculation than hypothesis. Also new evidence has basically eliminated a feathered Tyrannosaurus all together. Giving Tyrannosauridea (Tarbosaurus, T.rex, Gorgosaurus, etc) a 2% chance of being feathered, and a 98% chance of being fully scaly. And you said at first that T.rex had feathers in most places of there body, than you say that only babies had them. That doesn't make since. And no, this paper isn't over exaggerated at all! It's just that people don't want there chicken Rex gone because they are afraid that Jurassic Park will be right and they don't want people to think T.rex was lizard like. Even though JP will never be right and Tyrannosauroids where very bird like, no matter the integument. Lastly, geez! Why is everyone late on the feathered Rex thing!? We had a few years of amazing chicken Rex and now it is too late.T.rex is a plucked chicken now. Also if you want me to explain all of the reasons T.rex was scaly with scientific blogs and papers (remember be careful on blogs) than just say so. *if feathers where on T.rex I'd imagine them to be like the hairs on elephants, because we're learning that dinosaurs might not only have things in common with birds, but other dominant animals(mammals)*

I'm assuming you read those misleading news articles from the June of last year. The actual consensus among scientists is that whether T Rex had feathers or not is inconclusive. A discovery found last year, showed a fossilized remnant of the T Rex having scales, and a lost of misinformed people took to the conclusion that T Rex was 100% a scaly reptile. In reality the majority of feathered dinosaurs had feathers and scales at the same time (in fact scales are actually analogous to feathers, and are part of a group of structures called integuments). We have only mapped out the skin texture of only a portion of the T Rex's legs, which logically would not have feathers anyway, since most birds have bare feet. Some scientists theorize the T Rex had a form of quasifeathers called quills, and these were probably only limited to the dorsum region (along the spine), which would explain why evidence is difficult to find. Others theorize that T Rex had feathers as juveniles, but shed them in adulthood. Here is a video that actually addresses the discovery, and the misleading nature of its media coverage, and shows evidence to the contrary... kzbin.info/www/bejne/eamoZ2uZbteMl5I

The Mudkip Lover if I'm right larger dinosaurs wouldn't have made any loud "roars" like in Jurassic park, but would have been more like crocodiles and alligators. Letting out low frequency rumbles. Which can be speculated due to crocodiles being an relative , and the parasaurolophus skull allowing us to hear it's call.

Recent research actually suggests the T Rex was more scaly than feathery. The feathers were likely restricted to only certain parts of its body like its back. It’s also possible T Rex’s were feathery at first but lost them over time as a species. Another theory is that Juveniles were feathery but no longer needed them much in adulthood.

T.Rex doesn't look like a chicken and wasn't completely feathered. only about half of it was feathered and those were most likely dark brown feathers for camoflauge, its scales were also probably gray for (again) camoflauge. they did not possess feathers only as a juvenile, they had feathers throughout their entire life unless they were born with a defect. juveniles may have had slightly more feather coverage and lost it with age for heat regulation, but even as adults most of there skin covering was feathered

Not like actual feathers of modern day birds. More like proto feathers or simple filaments. In all actuality, close relatives to the t-rex have been found to possess filaments. Mainly to help regulating body temperature via heat dispension. The sample size we have of actual skin patches from t-rex is so small that even it would possess feathers or not would hardly apply for the whole species. So, tl,dr: maybe Raptors on the other hand, very likely were covered in feathers.

The saharicus is the biggest species of the 2 this one can reach up to 13-15m which the giganto can also reach, this means that the giganto and Carcharo are even in size they are both bigger then T.Rex

The silliest thing in any of the Jurassic Park movies was the scene in which the T-Rex had its jaws locked around the Spinosaurus’ neck and the Spino just shrugged it off. With six-and-a-half tons bite force behind the T-Rex’s dagger-teeth, the fight would have been over immediately, and Spino would have been headless.
