Digging potatoes is like treasure hunt.
@crankiemanx84236 ай бұрын
Lovely harvest. The potatoes are best harvested when the plants turn brown/yellow & begin to die off.they will also store better/longer when harvested at this time.& garlic needs to have at least 3 leaves fully yellowing to keep better once harvested.turnip leaves are also edible the young more tender leaves are delicious added to a mixed green salad.

@sourgummiez6 ай бұрын
Im having the opposite issue, im so jealous of people growing in the south and the midwest because im in northern California where its so hot and dry things STRUGGLE and they dont get lush like her beds. Our rain stopped at the end of april and we wont have a drop til November and NO OVERCAST or clouds. Its a struggle!!!
@YAWSSSSSS6 ай бұрын
You should make a stew with all those potatoes, garlic, and cabbage!
@elisabethjones49176 ай бұрын
Do you have a video on getting onions and turnips to BULB? I've watched so many videos and thought I did correctly this year. I had more lush growth than last, but every single onion and turnip had an itty bitty bump. ZERO actual veggies underground. I thought I may have pulled or clipped onions too early, but I pulled a different set maybe a week ago, same thing. 😢
@sourgummiez6 ай бұрын
Maybe switch fertilizer? Maybe too much nitrogen so they focused on leaves? People also pull their underground foods too early sometimes, maybe leave longer

I grew beautiful purple potatoes several years ago. I really didn’t care for the taste/texture. The seeds I used were a colorful medley (red/white/yellow/purple) that I picked up at Home Depo or something and I liked the taste of the purple the least. It’s a question in my mind - was it the type and are other purple varieties tastier?

our potatoes didn’t do the best they are so small but appeared ready to harvest based on the leaves dying off. it’s our first real garden and honestly has been mostly a learning experience 😅
