Meghalaya: Curfew imposed in Mawkynrew after school vandalism incident

The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills, R.M. Kurbah, has imposed a curfew in Mawkynrew village in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya following reports of vandalism at the Ramakrishna Mission School. The incident took place on January 20 when around 200 villagers attempted to damage the school's property. However, security forces, anticipating trouble, were prepared to handle the situation.
The conflict rose from a dispute over the school's construction. While the land belongs to two villages, Mawlein and Mawkynrew, the new dorbar or village council of Mawkynrew opposes granting a No Objection Certificate for the school's construction. This contradicts the decision of the previous Mawkynrew dorbar, which had approved the NOC, a stance still supported by Mawlein village.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem told EastMojo that four security personnel and two civilians sustained minor injuries during the incident. He also confirmed that the situation is under control, and additional forces have been deployed to maintain order.
Meanwhile, the local MLA, Banteidor Lyngdoh, left reporters waiting in his chamber, promising to comment but did not return. Sources told EastMojo that the MLA is in a difficult position, as commenting on the issue could impact his voter base since his wife is contesting the upcoming Member of District Council elections, making the situation politically sensitive.

Please give clear reports no vandalism or attempts to damage the construction of RKM school instead the want the vacant part to be used as football ground and instead they put the goal post on the vacant place and want to used as football ground Why media is giving false report why not what happen in the ground level even SP have clarify that construction part or building was not touch or damaged or no such attempt was made by the croud except for the vacant areas where they want to use as football ground be positive while giving your reports don't mislead the public in general and make people misunderstood
