She couldn't do that with Harry & David, they grow the fruit and their subcontraters who make the baked goods, jams, candy and such are tightly controlled for quality. They have large order discounts for example if your company wanted to send 50 customers a gift, but you submit the list of addressees and it is packed and shipped by H&D. I am kind of surprised Meghan choose this company to rip off...unlike Meghan they value their reputation.

There are at least 3 other TM applications pending for “Royal Riviera.” Two are by Harry&David for pear butter & fruit preserves, and, for kitchen linens, towels and aprons. Somehow these classes and categories sound familiar to ARO stuff. The third is for sparkling wines by some other party in France. Big corps have teams of lawyers and staff to watch over TM applications. Ultimately a ruling of the US PTO can be challenged prob before a PTO appeal board and then in Federal Court. Not sure what Harry&David pay per hour for a protest/objection letter but the billable hourly rate for court is $$$$$$ through the roof. MM needs a new name like Markle Sparkle. 😂

American Riviera has been the official nickname for the Santa Barbara region since the early 1900s. It was called the American Riviera during 1920s in travel magazines and travel posters. This is another issue for her brand you can't trademark long standing names of places.

Many countries have a Riviera, which is an inclusive term for a collection of neighbouring coastal/seaside towns, the French Riviera being the most famous.
