There is, however, the “Arkansas River” that is correctly pronounced “OUR-Kansas” by the locals. It runs through Kansas and toward Arkansas, the State, where I stop following it... Americans are obsessed with addressing their underwear as outer-wear! Pants should be on the inside. Vest, which should be on the inside is the american 'waistcoat'. That one threw me for a loop. And don't even get me started with 'jumper'. English jumper is american sweater, but american jumper it's what little girls wear - what we'd call overalls. I once asked an american girlfriend of mine "Are you cold? I've got a jumper in the car.." and she just looked at me really oddly and asks 'Why would you have....?" And then there's my all time favourite - THREE way mixup. braces. In England are the straps you use to hold up your trousers, in America those are suspenders. But in England suspenders are the things women use to hold up their stockings. And in American those are garters. And in England garters are the things you put under the fold of your socks to keep those up. Americans don't have a word for that.. because... they are not so stiff and stuffy as the English to care about wether their socks are correctly placed or around their ankles :P

@sarahspeaks144 In English, talking of aristocracy, "styled" means "being called with a given title". i.e. Camilla is styled "duchess of Cornwall", but when she's in Scotland she's styled "Duchess of Rothesay". No one calls Catherine "Princess William of Wales" because she didn't take that title. I'm sure Meghan thought she would be called "Princess Meghan" like "Princess Diana". Poor thing :D

I live in America, PBS (public broadcasting ( tv ) station) has lots of British shows so I know a lot of what they are saying. Watch Australian shows too. Love Miss Fischer and Dr. Blake mysteries. Also, have watched lots of foreign films and shows with subtitles, so find it easier to understand accents and such. USA has a lot of variation in English and such though too, so yikes! Weird expressions and accents everywhere!
