Harry's wedding was £42m or thereabouts, the coronation of the King and his consort, so the robes and costumes, hosting the dignitaries at the Palace, security fur the masses of people turning up, £70 really isn't a big deal. You're right, or that against the $sums you mention, and £70m really doesn't sound a lot. I'm not sure, but I think you've probably got space for fast bigger crowds, I think your security is likely more present and a larger team, just to cover the area. I don't know what things you need to spend on, or if it's financially fair to compare them, if that makes sense, because then I'm wondering how did we only spend £70m for a monarch's coronation? If Britain didn't have the great houses, and royal palaces for the public to see - tourism would completely crash. Both duchies are very effectively managed by a Duchy Council - appointed by government, with detailed reports on the financial and operational aspects of them provided annually back to government. And both the King and the Prince of Wales pay 45% income tax on their income from the Duchies -- no private citizen would do any of that. All this 'cost effectiveness' is just a bunch of myopic rubbish. The trailer paints polo as an obnoxious, elite sport for narcissitic ponces to preen and get fawned over by calculating schemers. Harry has nothing to do with organizing Invictus - he is their D-list celebrity spokesperson - which isn't going well.

Kinsey, the rent that the NHS is paying to rent a warehouse owned by the Duchy of Lancaster to store ambulances is already a bargain. Consider it, the NHS paid £11.4m to rent that 2-storey warehouse for 15 years, that's less than £1m/year rent. Now, if the NHS doesn't rent from the DoL to store those ambulances, they would have to rent from a private landlord who would charge them way higher rent than what the NHS paid the DoL. For big private landlords, money is everything and they wouldn't rent out a 2-storey warehouse for less than a million a year, I can guarantee you that.

The NHS is, and has been for many years, haemorrhaging money through desperately bad management and wastefulness. Most of the front line staff are totally dedicated and work so hard to provide the care necessary to the population. However there are too many layers of management operating with different agendas that don't have unified, budget goals or even unfied understanding of the scale of over-spending and the validity of that spending. Only REAL concensus based on a thorough, unbiased view of its needs will allow the NHS to function as intended. Those bellowing that more money is needed and should be funded from economies of income generating sources like our Royal Family are either desperately naive or politically driven. Fix the root cause and stop dragging our Royal Family into the cynically induced malcontent, locked and loaded towards political agendas.

The RF properties are run as commercial enterprises. Renting properties in LONDON costs money - it’s very naive to expect it’s going to be free. The amount of money drawn from the RF for tourism etc. is massive. The NHS example is a deflection away from the real issue, overwhelming mass illegal immigration.

I agree 100%. He’s a tool, no doubt. But I truly think that if he’d married a good woman, she might’ve smoothed those rough edges and soothed his injured little soul. If he had met a woman with even half of Catherine’s grace and compassion, he’d be in a very different position today. He could not have found a less appealing partner than the one he married.
