Wow I’ve never seen that clip of Senator McCain defending Obama during their presidential race. That just reaffirmed how much I respect him despite our political differences. Randy H I watched her many times and she says this "they put us in one bubble" but that's what she does when she talks about Democrats, she constantly says, "the Democrats, "why the Democrats think this way, The Democrats" so she does the same exact thing that she don't want people to say about her. I know when people say Republicans that they don't mean all of them, as well as Democrats but we all say it in speaking sense. .

Randy H, I think that wanting to bridge the divide between the right & the left is admirable and it shows wisdom. I'm British I dont vote in your country so her being a Republican (or ANY Democrat) has no bearing on my assessment of her. I speak as I find, her intelligence is often marred by her abrasive, absorbed self. It's jarring how little she acknowledges that has got to where she has because of her surname. Her most unlikeable trait is her inability to be show humility. By Van Jones giving her a platform serves only to encourage that lack of self awareness. Now I come to your point about her being a political analyst. She worked at Fox as her father's status got her the role, she campaigned becayse of her father, just like how her internships were also helpfully achieved because of her name. I also worked at Fox at the same time so I speak of her with some clarity. She may influence you but is it her content that influences people or is it her surname? I believe strip back the McCain (note shes married but still uses it) and what opportunities would have been afforded to her then & what sort of analyst would she be?

Well this one is still there carrying her life size business card: John McCain. Seriously would she be on TV had she not been his daughter? To those who rush to saying McCain is an honorable man, I wouldn't praise him that much. He is part of what created the situation we have now with the dumbing down and radicalization of politics in general and republicans in particular. The dumbing down of the republican party started gradually and he accelerated it when he chose Pailin. No respectable human being picks Pailin to do his groceries let alone be Vice President of a civilized country. If McCain had a heart attack she would have been President. The tea party (which was just a racist movement in disguise) and the Glenn Becks and all that, McCain capitalized on it. The republican party rejoices itself with picking "incredible" candidates. For people who criticize Government (which they all desperately want to be a part of) they are the ones who actually make government worse. We need government in a civilized society, what we don't need is bad incompetent government. But the worse are them...

McCain never wanted Palin on the ticket; he wanted Joe Lieberman to be his running mate. They knew, however, that Lieberman (a lifelong Democrat who had recently run for President as an independent) would not get approved at the Republican convention. McCain's advisors repeatedly urged and pressured him to select Palin. The advisors thought Palin would help them pick up votes from disaffected Hillary voters and feminists. McCain quickly realized that it was a terrible mistake and he has publicly said that it was one of his greatest mistakes in politics.

Van This woman has not had enough of life's experience to understand what others are dealing with or have dealt with. Yes, she is entitled to her opinions but, her approach and attitude is all wrong. The opportunity she has been given to be a member of the staff on the VIEW or any other media program is allowing her a platform without working in the 'TRENCHES,' she would not dirty her hands. It is one thing to make comments and speeches another to have been a part of. WHY ARE YOU PRAISING HER? She is rude, whinny, talks to fast, a 'VALLEY GIRL TYPE.' WHAT HAS SHE DONE? Van, it is sickening, the manner in which you praise her, she has done nothing to receive such praise. ARE YOU EXPECTING AN INVITE TO HER FATHER'S HOME?. You are suppose to be an interviewer, not doing a good job, reason I don't watch your show. A good interviewer would ask hard questions, you are unable to do that. She is living off of her father's fame. I have never been a fan of McCain, he blows with the wind, which ever direction he can benefit from. There are veterans who have been wounded worse who have not received the same care/treatment still struggling. Veterans who do not have the support system he has and most importantly, the insurance and financial means. Praise those veterans who did just as much if not more and the families left behind. How about extending your platform on CNN and allow them a voice. Meghan has lived in a privileged environment, good for her, few have that experience and few have been given the opportunity to tell their story. I am sick of hearing about McCain, there are other veterans and military members. Why not spend your time interviewing veterans and the general public who have really done something with no parent to open the door but still managed to work hard for their families and communities. I am sick and tired of you and others in the media who continue to give an open mick to those who have done nothing but give lip service and she is not even interesting. You, Megan are so spot on. Generalizations, pointing fingers and name calling gets you no place. You don’t have to give up your values to try to understand what others think

I am a democrat my whole life--and I just have so much respect for her. I have always said please somebody get Meghan McCain in the chair and not these other somewhat air-headed women. She is in such a precarious position trying so hard to get the ladies of the View and us to listen and understand the left/the supporters of Trump. I just hope we all listen to her and take what she says seriously.
@bluedasher746 жыл бұрын
She was talking about her co-stars on The View when she said the part about accusing all Republicans of being racist. Joy and I think Whoopi also had said that Republicans are racist just a day or two before this interview.

She's a very thoughtful, kind, sincere, well-educated and classy lady. I honestly don't understand why most people hate her work on The View, because she was put there to ask the tough questions from the conservative side. I mean sure have there been times when I've been annoyed by her line of incendiary questionings? Yes. Do I think she's evil? Of course not.

It's surprising how much I like her presence outside of The View. Still not my favorite person politically - or even personally sometimes - but she's much more pleasant on shows other than The View.

It's funny how people get pissed at Meghan for talking about her dad, but yet don't realize that that's why she became relevant. If her dad wasn't John McCain no one would bat an eye at her. Don't you think she gets tired of having to talk about her dad? I love Meghan. I think she's a beautiful human being.

What most people don't realize is that when people keep praising John McCain for saying Obama's not an Arab, you have to think about McCain's response to that lady saying what she said. When she said "I can't trust Obama, he's an Arab!" he said "no ma'am, he's a decent family man." Basically, he said that if Obama was an Arab, it would be impossible for him to be a decent family man. The only thing John McCain did was not only defend Obama against an ignorant racist but also demagogue an entire community by saying "if you're Arab, you can't be decent, you're automatically a bad person."
@theATLien3126 жыл бұрын
Maybe try to look at it from the point of view that he was trying to explain to her he wasn't an Arab , which meant he was eligible to be the president . If you look back and remember that's what so many people were saying when Sydney Blumenthal spread that rumor for the Hillary campaign which spread like wild fire . He was trying to put to bed that rumor by saying " no you're wrong ,he's not an Arab or a Muslim he's a red-blooded American family man. " Just like everything in life things are complex and not so cut and dry or black-and-white. And just like anything else in life if you look for something bad or negative , you'll find it. Sadly after reading your post you seem to be the type that's always looking for the racist in the crowd and sure enough I bet you always find them. It's called a self fulfilling prophecy.

I think you're reading too much into it. He also defended the use of the Arabic phrase "allahu akbar". www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2013/09/04/john-mccain-explains-why-allahu-akbar-shouldnt-freak-you-out/ McCain is an enigma on race. He voted against Martin Luther King, Jr. day but adopted a Bangledeshi child. However, there is widespread speculation that the adoption was politically motivated because he and Cindy McCain keep changing their story on how it came about. He's a Republican who tends to vote against policies that help the Black community but his daughter-in-law is Black. However, his son-in-law (Meghan McCain's husband) has written some questionable stuff about race and concurred with Trump's remarks about Haiti.

Darisha Sims What policies did he go against that would of helped the black community? Sorry, but voting against a national holiday about a black man is not something that helps or harms black people.
@ILoveRomances6 жыл бұрын
He voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1990. www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/11/mccains-other-controversi_n_96193.html Look at his voting record, period. votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/53270/john-mccain-iii#.WoFaRainGUk Look at the all the horrific nominees he's approved. Look at the tax bill he ultimately approved. Also, Martin Luther King, Jr. should never be reduced to just "a black man". Ever.
@skip0318906 жыл бұрын
Darisha Sims Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see where you think he's doing a disservice to black people. He actually seemed more conservative back in the day than he does today. I wish he'd be more like his old self and stop pandering to liberals. And you're being hypersensitive about me calling MLK a black man. Was he not black? Come on, now. Don't start with the "I'm offended at everything you say" routine. I know who he was and what he stood for. No need to go off the handle for me referring to him as a black man when clearly he was a black man.
