I use it a drying aid on my coated cars. Love it. Smells great. Adds lubricity under the drying towel. Easily Buffs off streak free without residue (common in many other drying aids), and doesn’t reduce the coatings hydrophobic performance.

Great vid Jon, looking forward to the ceramic detailer comparison test! Or even just the Meguiars line up to show which is best. I love the new Hybrid Ceramic Detailer, in my opinion it's in my top 3 alongside AutoGlanz Prizm and Bouncer's Done & Dusted Si Edition. All 3 boost gloss, add an incredible slickness, create amazing water behaviour and are fairly durable and chemically resistant. The HCD wowed me more than the HCW.

Really enjoyed the review. I’ve been using this for the last 8 months or so and I’m loving it. The thing I really like is that for light dirt build up, it really helps when it comes to the next wash. I’ve noticed that when it comes to the pre wash stages I can get rid of noticeably more surface dirt before I actually have to put a hand on the car. The fact that it makes the paintwork look great is a bonus for me (for context, I’m driving a BMW F11 530d that was previously owned by Enterprise so the paintwork is a patchwork quilt of questionable spray jobs) meguiars hybrid ceramic detailer does a great job of hiding a lot of the horror!

Great video Jon. I've recently purchased the Meguiars hybrid ceramic liquid wax and their quick detailer featured in your video. The hybrid ceramic liquid wax gave excellent results but was streaky until I sprayed a non meguiars quick detailer over it and buffed it. I've not used the Meguiars quick detailer yet but they look like great products.

Appreciate your thoughts on this one Jon! I've been loving HCD, I'd have to say this is my favorite of the products released this year. Just an overall great balance of ease of use, great smell, good price, good slickness, very impressive short term hydrophobics kind of like what we see out of Gyeon Cure and CarPro Reload when they're fresh, but not at all overly smeary and uneven like Reload can be in some situations. It's a perfect maintenance topper for those high hydrophobic waxes/sealants/coatings, especially for Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax which can die down quite a bit after a month or so on the paint. This is exactly what I was looking for from one of the consumer brands that I can just run off to the local parts store and snag some up in a pinch. Really complements Meguiar's Hybrid lineup, I can have fun using the wet application method with HCW, or when it's too hot out I can do a dry application of HCD.
@ForensicDetailing

that ease of use is important isnt it kyle, Ive got no complaints with this stuff so far does everything megs say on the label and the price is kind of ok with SI02 products. my problem is generally these SI02 products are all a bit pricey. I like the fact I can fire and forget with this stuff and use a lot and it will buff out well. So yer I think megs seem to generaly do a good job with application of their products (HCW aside). cheers buddy.

From this video it sounds to me that Koch Chemie FSE followed by the Meguires Hybrid si02 detail spray could be an awesome combo. The only down side I can see to sio2 detail sprays is that they often mess up microfibre towels if you don’t wash them right away. Sometimes it’s handy having a detailer that you can use a quick spray of and not worry about doing a washing load.

Great videos! Very helpful! I would like to ask... On a brand new black car (skoda karoq) what topper you would suggest to go above gyeon's can coat? I am looking for gloss , slickness and to be hydrophobic... i don't care too much about durability. Could that do the job? I am also looking on car pro Elixir. Unfortunately here in Greece i don't have access to many brands .... Thanks anyway!

can do although general rule is if it has water and wax the durability is compramised by the emulsifiers. Thats the comparmise with a true liquid wax. dont know its applicable to the Megs product because some are called liquid waxes but they dont contain wax or wax.

@@ForensicDetailing everything i've seen shows the hybrid ceramic spray to be better and its what i've switched to using on all our cars. i've developed a technique for using it after the initial application that involves using a $2 hose end shutoff valve which provides the perfect spray angle and pressure for distributing the wax over the car. It also allows for a gentle solid stream of water to rinse off the beaded water droplets using the water's cohesion. I've actually been using a $2 plastic ball valve as my "nozzle" for washing and detailing my cars for 20 years. Its my detailing secret weapon.

What’s your recommendation for drying aid to go on top of wax in the SiO2 era of products? I don’t see SiO2 being super durable as a need. If you’re topping it it at every wash a non ceramic would work just as well. I still use BeadMaker, TW Wet Wax or Optimum Car Wax spray. I gather enough used towels before washing them, so I worry that SiO2 sitting in the towel for days might disrupt its absorbency permanently.

Yes I used it on my ceramic after running out of the Gtechniq product. It is a lot cheaper (like less than half the price) and seems just as good. Paint looks ace, and durability isn't an issue because it's going to be applied after each wash. I have absolutely no idea if it actually 'adds to the existing ceramic layer' as the Gtechniq Liquid Crystal claims to, but I never really believed that anyway.

Grerat review. One thing with all Meguiars detailers are that they flash very quickly and you can use them in the sun or shade.Always leaving the paint slick to touch. I believe Turtle Wax has taken cues from Meguiars the last couple years with their Hybrid line which is excellent and probably the best bang for your buck for the over the counter consumer line products and rival some of the higher end brands. Now we have the graphene craze which I'm experimenting with different brands..

Would it make sense to use this as like a monthly topper or just reapply the spray ceramic on the car? Figure both take the same amount of time, not really sure if it's worth while applying a spray detailer to boost hydrophobic if I could just put down another lite coating of spray ceramic in the same amount of time. I've been using this with Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions spray and it's a little odd, not immediately but after a week or two the combination of both seems to cause more of a fast sheeting action.

get some koch FSE. It can be possible that you can like cocooned your water spots underneath protective products. you can sort of lock them in. generalyl speaking though mario polishing is not a good way to remove water spots. some people think it is because if the water spot is buried underneath a wax or something,, the non abrasive water spot removers can have trouble removing them.. problem with abrading water spots off is you dont remove them you hide them and they can come back. if you car is covered in water spots.. do this. But some Garage therapy /decon wash. prewash car with it. Then contact wash car with it. then dry.. then use Koch FSE on it. then next time you wash it a week later put some protection back on it like a wax.

Hey Dad, since you’re going to do a high end wax video in the near future is there any possibility you could sneak the Graphene wax that our man on the inside - John Hogg made for SEMA last year ?¿?

Not a surprise, another great review John. Are you using the creature cloths to apply and buff the product ? I did purchase these for ONR rinse less washing but they have changed them since your recommendation. Would you now recommend the coral Minx or in2detailing 470 as the choice cloths. Keep up the great work, I'm now hiding the recipes, from my Wife, of all the great products that you are twisting my arm to purchase

the grey cloths are direct from manufacturer you cant buy them. for waterless wash I recomend cheap open pile. minx would be great. or in2details 350yellows (1.95 each when you buy ten) has to be cheap cloth if its for waterless wash its gonna get ruined.

@@ForensicDetailing Thank you for replying John, is this because the cloths are picking up dirt with the ONR when rinse less washing ? and this will not come out when washing. I've got some of Imran's 350, so will give these ago, alone with my old Creatures.The coral and ordinary Minx are now out of stock, so will keep an eye out if they become available again Keep up the great work on the channel !

Are you still a fan of Bilt Hamber double speed wax even though it blooms? I plan on buying some cleanser polish and wondered which wax to use on top, car is Tornado Red. Would like under £50 and ease of use, your car always looks great.

Hoping you can post a reaction video on Jason Rose's Rupes C.O.R.E.S. Series Webinar on the Rupes YT Channel I did like the look, but wonder if the new last moment inward beveling will impair vision when edging? After viewing, I immediately panicked and purchased over 2 dozen Yellows

My car is a glacier-white Audi RS3 Limousine, bought it in Germany used but in excellent condition. Painting looks good, too but could surely need a polish after 2 ½ years now. So I bought the "Sonax Hybrid (Si02) wax & polish 2" and will use a "Koch Chemie Nano Magic" Shampoo (wash + seal function) every week and periodically also the "Gyeon wet coat".... So I need a Detailer mostly for in-between cleaning of dust/streaks or that misty blooming that was on the roof of your car in the video.... Which Detailer would you recommend? The Meguiars Quick Ceramic Detailer or something else (like Bouncers D&D) or probably a dilluted Optimum ONR...? Thanks for your help!

have sone fun.. try a few SI02 like megs ceramic, bouncers SI. I use BH QD at 10:1 because its a tiny fraction of the cost. I like tac systems shinee wax too as a great alrounder. I like trying new ones but there is no magic. dont forget to have koch chemie FSE for water spots.

I'm having Gtechniq CSU and 2x EXO applied very soon. Although it should just need a blast of water, what detailing spray would you recommend for use on ceramic? Something I can use once a week when not near a hose and can't keep my hands off the car!

i have no mate, theres literally only so many you can use and there only so many comparison tests you can do before you have to like call a halt on trying more. I think i must have tried about 30 SI02 sprays and they have all been decent.

yes in summer I find myself reaching for FSE more and more as a QD cleaner upper. Simple because I dont find other products or QD's effective against like the little spots of water or soap spots that you can see on the car. FSE eats them up and leaves me a clean panel. sometimes with other QDs Im trying to tidy the panel up and remove the little footprints but they just dont do it. A bit like in this video. I will do this walkthrough soon Tom.. cheers mate.

If you can get your hands on it in the UK you should give Mothers CMX spray coat a try, it’s a SiO2-TiO2 spray that throws water like crazy.

Are there any products that sheet rather than bead? I have an issue on a red car after rain and the car is sat outside, the sun bakes down on the beads which can remain on the paint for hours and causes bad water spotting. Some of them are etched into the paint and cannot be removed with Koch chemie fse.
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 4 жыл бұрын
very few products truely sheet. true sheeting comes from hydrophillic properties and virtually no products do this now. products which claim sheeting are usually hydrophobic but just not extremely hydrophobic. My tip for you is to try acrylic products. So check out the Carlack 68 sealant and Carlack Detail spray. Or Sonus acrylic products. These might helps. acrliyc has very little to no hydrophobicity so you do get a more true sheeting product.

Hi John, so can you apply ceramic coating over wax then? I thought it was one or the other?
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 4 жыл бұрын
yo ryan this is like a water base SI02 ceramic spray.. its so different to a true ceramic coating really. thats why I think some parts of the industry dont like the way brands are marketting these products. Specially the coating centred brands. true ceramic needs to go on bare preps panel (or silice primer prep'd panel). Si02 water based spray can go on anything really as long as its degreased.
