Megumi Fushiguro was abandoned by his father due to the events of Gojo’s Hidden Inventory arc, however in the Shibuya Arc we see Megumi reuniting with his father for the first time, under really strange circumstances. As Megumi and his family members work together to take down Dagon, the Cursed Ocean Spirit from the first season, outside we see a pair of sorcerers activating a technique called Cursed Seance, and this allows the user to use her grand son’s body as the host for a spirit that has already passed on, however when she does this tries to momentarily bring back Toji as her puppet, he swiftly breaks free from the technique gaining complete control over himself, and basically brought back to life. From there Toji goes on to find Megumi and the two have a short fight because Toji can sense his potential and only wants to fight the strongest there, however during the battle while Megumi is fighting his father without realizing it, Toji hears Megumi’s name and asks him what his last name is, and when Megumi answers Fushiguro, Toji takes his spear and shoves it in his own head, knowing that Gojo’s promise to him was kept and he’s not needed anymore, leaving Megumi extremely confused at just who that was that he fought.

Gojo being born with his techniques and levels of power through the power landscape completely off balance. I think Toji’s biggest contribution is to the narrative towards the entire jujitsu’s society. Obviously this gets more fleshed out with maki’s comparisons to him but even early on, it’s clear that although he’s an outcast and his fighting style is unconventional, it gets results and is a fantastic counter to many jujutsu fighting standards most sorcerers use, even gojo. But even he knows there’s something going on and that his boy will be special but he still has to just give him up to the clan like every other member. Even though they hate him, even though they despise him they still will use his offspring. And Toji can do nothing but stay out his child’s life and change his name. For as much as a badass Toji was he was still stuck in The system. It wasn’t til after he was dead when they brought him back he just said” fuck it” wrecked shop and then bounced 😂 Toji is great shonen.

One mistake from the short is that they didnt plan to use Toji's spirit but use the body of a strong deceased person without the soul. Normally its impossible for the soul to lose to the body but Toji was built different. It also ends when the body depletes its cursed energy but since Toji never used cursed energy they were basically screwed and left with a body that runs on instinct and attacking the strongest person around meaning he wasnt looking for megumi but the cursed spirit they were fighting before going after Megumi once the spirit got demolished.
