The first opportunity I had to visit California was in 1995 so almost 30 years. We visited family in SF. The destruction of that beautiful city in the intervening years is beyond comprehension. Obviously it had problems then, but nothing even close to now. How poor policy turned a state into the place where millions of people wanted to reside to a place where people are escaping to the point that U Haul and similar outfits have to pay drivers to return the trucks is a question for the ages.
