Mehn Madau - Carolann Carl

This video was a collaborative project by Carolann Carl and Soused Productions. The 3rd place winner of the Federated States of Micronesia’s World Tuna Day 2020 competition, Mehn Madau is a piece that highlights the FSM’s identity as ocean people. Mehn Madau means to be from the ocean and to be seasick; seasick in this case is being homesick because the sea is home. Carolann Carl and Soused Productions would like to dedicate this video in memory of the late Peter Sitan whose life’s work was the epitome of his identity as a navigator, empowering Micronesian people by reclaiming and redefining our ocean resources key to our identity as ocean people.
