I've been skiing Maid-joe (an American pronunciation) bindings for several years. I find that I can shake the snow out of the binding when transitioning and then gently flick the tour-lock wire with my pole to be able to step down and lock the duckbutt of my boot. Then I can strip skins without removing the skis. I also only lock the toe when touring so they have some releaseability when skiing.

I have three pair of Meidjo (2.1 -> 3.0) and I've migrated all of the kickstands to powder case. By doing so, you can avoid all of the futzing around during transition from downhill Touring modes. You also solve the "boot jack" problem where snow builds up around the kickstand. Great review!

What do you mean by "migrated all of the kickstands to powder case"?

I’m like 135 and the skis are 180s. I have no doubt those bindings could handle a much larger person with bigger skis.

I don't think you're supposed to lock the toe in when going downhill. It should be able to release for your safety.
