Btw this song is not about a sidechick. This is what Meiko said about the song on facebook. "I was friends with a guy who had a jealous girlfriend... Frankly she probably was regardless of what she says. People aren't very good at being honest about their feelings, to themselves or others.... if she really cared about his "friendship" she would have made an effort to include her and connect with her too... most (sane) girlfriends generally don't get jealous unless there's a reason to be.

^^^ when you are such a prude the subject matter of a harmless song makes you uncomfortable and you feel the need to force your views on others I just got out of a five-year relationship with one of the most suffocatingly jealous women I've ever met. Horrible self-esteem issues. If a cute female classmate said hi to me at the library she wouldn't talk to me for hours, and that was after chain-smoking an entire pack of cigarettes. Never cheated on her. Considered it, but only because, ironically, she was so suffocatingly jealous all the time. My only fault is not leaving her sooner. This is a charming song about the natural urges people have towards others, regardless of their relationship status. Meiko has every right to flaunt the fact that she is so beautiful and talented that women get jealous and "taken" men are attracted to her. Deal with it.

People connect with people other than their partner/lover. Sometimes connection is mistaken for sexual tension. Sometimes it is sexual tension which does not mean a relationship is desired, intended, or functional. A relationship is so different from chemical, metaphysical, or intellectual attraction or connection. Knowing the difference would save a lot of broken hearts. Or make valuable lessons easier to understand. Sometimes that buzzing energy of someone you connect with can be just that. Buzzing exciting energy that does not need to be elevated, acted upon, or figured out. Not everything needs an action attached to it.

Also the fact that you tried to let it slip that you considered your female classmate "cute" in the first place just goes that you were well aware of what you were doing, purposely desiring other women, and that you didn't hold much value in your relationship in the first place. Scifi for all! yeah, it's okay if you feel that way, i don't want to invalidate your feelings, i just hope you appreciate who you are and all the talents and wonderful qualities that you possess. in my mind, pretty and skinny isn't better; both are just veneers (and honestly, different people prefer different veneers; i for one, do not prefer thinness and i've never been attracted to anyone for their looks, and i know other people who also are of the same mind). artistry is an admirable skill, but i'm sure you have your own skills that are also admirable.
