Meiko's lover was killed off by Rilliane (played by Rin), causing her to hate the young Queen. She realized that Allen (aka Len) was pretending to be the Queen when she stormed the throne room. From there, there are several different possible reasons why she didn't act on knowing Allen was the Queen: a) She thought it would be better just if the people would assume that Allen was the Queen so that there would be no more civil unrest. b) She was respecting Allen's last wish to do this for his Queen (which I interpreted from the animated unofficial PV of Servant of Evil in which he mouths "arigatou" before dying). c) She wanted to see if Allen would back out. d) She was blinded by her thirst for vengeance, although this quickly seemed to morph into guilt from what I can tell by the last line. Also, her last line about being a daughter of vengeance (evil), from what I interpreted, meant that she too shared the same sins as Rilliane did. She killed Rilliane's most precious just as Rilliane did to her, and she acknowledges that although the public revels her as a hero, she has committed a sin as well. (That's just my answers to all the questions below...)

She did it as a way to get back at Rin. She knew that it was actually Len, but she knew it would hurt more for Rin to know that her own brother died for her sake, and she wasn't wrong. But it's also kind of like "an eye for an eye" type of thing.

In the actual Evillious Chronicles, we learn that this story isn't really canon. Germaine (Meiko) never married nor was she ever romantically linked with anyone, and she was adopted by the captain of the royal guards, Leonhart Avadonia (Leon). Also adopted by Leonhart was Allen (Len) who was secretly the princess, Riliane (Rin)'s twin. Leonhart started to grow wary of the princess and her cruelty so he tried to plan a rebellion. But Riliane found out when her maid Ney (Neru) "accidentally" let it slip. Riliane ordered for Leonhart to be assassinated, which Allen did. Germaine...to put it bluntly, wasn't happy when she found out, though at the time she didn't know who specifically killed her father, she just knew Riliane had something to do with it. Germaine, with the help of her and Allen's mutual friend Chartette (Teto), started an uprising of their own and the two took advantage of the Green Hunting (aka, Riliane's genocide of the green haired people) as the chance to rally the people against the princess, accompanied by Kyle Marlon (Kaito), whose crush Michaela (Miku) was killed in the hunting. Germaine kills Riliane's mercenary, Gast Venom (Gakupo) and proceeds to storm the castle, capturing "Riliane". She quickly realizes that the "princess" is actually Allen and pleads with him to escape, but Allen confesses to killing her father, which changes her tune immediately. He also confesses to killing Michaela, but in a twist it turns out he really _didn't_ kill her and doesn't know who did (spoiler alert: it was Ney). Germaine reluctantly goes through with executing Allen afterward, avenging her father at the cost of her adoptive brother. In short, everyone in the Story of Evil is a big depressing woobie who needs a hug. -Except Prim Marlon, she can go die in a fire.-

I think this one was the best fanmade one for the Daughter of Evil series. The lyrics is very in-depth. I like how there was a nice twist that MEIKO knew the twins switched clothing yet purposely killed Len for revenge because Rin killed someone she loved long ago. @@Yeet-up4py I think you should read the translated Version of the Closure of Yellow novel in Tumblr in order to understand, I mean, This song is not cannon to the actual narrative, well some parts of the song is, But Germaine (Meiko) never had a love interest and is an awesome ass tomboy that grew up with Allen (len) Under the care of Leonhart, The lover she was referring to was Leonhart, her father that was assinated by Allen due to Riliane's orders, And Germaine's entire family didn't die of starvation, She was originally a descendant of Banica Conchita, so she was the child of an emperor and Empress, and as A baby, Leonhart killed her parents and decided to adopt her thinking she would make a useful hostage one day, and Germaine grew up loving and caring to Leonhart as if he was her real father. (It's in the song "A Hero's Armor is always crimson ") One day, they were surrounded by Assasins and told leonhart to surrender the girl, Leonhart was about to sell her off, after all that was his sole reason for adopting her, But he changed his mind and heart after Germaine took a sword and stood in front of Leonhart protectively despite being scared herself, Leonhart appreciated this gesture and he wanted to be the armor that protected her as well, And so a beautiful bond was formed. She did know that It was Allen who took Riliane's place, And she told him that they could run away together and live happily with Charlotte (Their childhood friend and fellow maid) Like they used to. But Allen then Admitted that he was the one who killed Leonhart, and so, Germaine accepted his request of dying for his sister.

let me get this straight..Meiko was poor and her love was killed due to the princess so she rebelled but Meiko didn't kill the princess, but her servant who took her place. Meiko knew that it was really the servant and that the princess was in the crowd, but still killed him because the princess killed Meiko's love. Riliane did not kill her lover. She came up with a plan to kill Leonhart, Germaine's father. Allen was the one who killed him, and that was what he told her in his cell. Allen wanted to be killed because that's what the people wanted, even though Germaine herself suggested that they run away and the two of them, along with Chartette, live far, far away together happily.

Nashi Dragneel Vengeance is not the same as evil. Vengeance is punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong (that's the dictionary definition). Len did the "wrong," so Meiko punished him for it, and that's where the Vengeance comes into play. That's why she's called Daughter of Vengeance.

I think I should clear some things up since there’s a lot of misconception in the comments. The woman in this song is Germaine, and she never had a lover. Basically, Germaine was adopted by the head of the royal guard, a knight named Leonhart, at a young age. Leonhart also hated the “evil queen,” Riliane. (Riliane was cursed by a demon, but that’s a different story.) Eventually, when the royal twins were separated, the boy (Allen, played by Len) went to go live with Germaine and Leonhart. Leonhart knew that Allen was secretly the prince, but Germaine did not. So they grew up as adopted siblings. Eventually, Allen went to work for the castle as a servant. Leonhart, noticing that the peasants were poor and hungry, started sneaking out food for them. This angered Riliane, and she ordered Allen to kill Leonhart. Even though Allen didn’t want to kill his adopted dad, he did it anyways. So, after Leonhart was killed, Germaine blamed Riliane and vowed revenge on her. Germaine, along with some others like a maid named Chartette and Prince Kyle (played by Kaito) started planning the revolution. Then, Germaine and Kyle overthrew Riliane and sentenced her to execution. One day, Germaine went to go check on the prisoner in the dungeon, who she thought was Riliane. To her surprise, it was actually Allen, and since they had grown up together, she was the only one who could spot him. Germaine, not wanting to kill her brother, begged Allen to tell them where Riliane was so he could go free. When he refused, she begged him to escape anyways. Allen refused again, and he told Germaine that HE had killed Leonhart so she would go away. Germaine, full of sadness and grief, had no choice but to let him be executed. Then, Prince Kyle also found out that it was secretly Allen, but Allen lied to Kyle and said that he had killed Michaela (played by Miku) which made Kyle mad. So then Allen was executed, and Germaine wanted to stop it and save him but she couldn’t because the people needed a scapegoat, and he refused to escape. Germaine and Kyle never really bothered to go and find Riliane, and Germaine just kind of left the kingdom and became super depressed and distant after all of that. Riliane’s kingdom got annexed by Kyle’s kingdom. And then some stuff happens with a sorceress named Irina and Germaine and stuff, but that’s a different story. Funnily enough, this is the only one of those fanmade parodies that comes anywhere close to what the actual canon says. The biggest differences I can see are that Germaine wasn't married and thus wasn't avenging her "husband" and that she knew Allen personally, hence why she recognized him (and she also canonically gave him the option to escape, which she doesn't do in this version). This isn't too big a compliment though, seeing as the others just completely made things up and some of the things they made up don't make a lick of sense (Luka is the twins' real mom? Kaito was their dad [EW!]? Miku's secretly a princess?).

From reading the novels, what I gathered was that Germaine (Meiko) found out it was Allen (Len) shortly after Kyle (Kaito) did, when Allen was in jail. Seeing as Allen was her adopted brother, she tried to convince him to run away with her so he wouldn't have to face execution. But, after Allen revealed that he was the one who had killed Leonhart, their adoptive father, Germaine actually left him there to die. However, she was so distressed that she never actually went to see the execution.

I like the fanmade of Meiko side story 'cause it doesn't stray too much from the original story and just adds to reasons why she's the one that stood up to the princess even more. 'cause actually I don't know other reason why she started the rebellion other than massacre of the green's country

Hers is the most elaborate out of the three side stories actually. Miku's- Daughter of Green just has a single still picture no change, and Kaito's- Prince of Blue only has a few changes, and no subtitles yet. XP

@HitoneToni Also to follow up, she probably searched for the real RIn anyway but if the angry people were to find out that Rin escaped, they would be even more furious. So in fear of unforseen complications, she had no choice but to go with the flow and allow Len to die and thats the root of the evil. She probably feared most that she would be accused of aiding Rin's escape. I find this story line frighteningly realistic as I can see this being based on a true story.

@itachipat if you mean haku, she said that she was sorry that she wasn't able to revenge miku's death and she said that Rin was just like her, all alone, so she spared her and she saw len at the very end when he thought that rin was going to die

As I remember, in "The Wooden Girl: Millenium of Wiegenlied" Len is the one who loved Miku, not the other way around... and although he was ordered by Rin to kill Miku, he couldn't bring himself to do it and hid her in a well instead. It was revealed that a yellow haired assassin DID kill Miku, but no mention of the true identity. However, "Handbeat Clocktower" reveals that it was Neru who killed her, under the orders of Kaito's mom herself.

@Krina531 Yeah, in a way. Because in the story, Allen (Len) is Jermille (Meiko)'s adopted brother. That's probably why she was able to tell that Allen was taking Rillianne (Rin)'s place. She had to kill a lot of people, and she doesn't feel that she's such a heroine as people call her.

@boordayuse I think that in some versions of Servant of Evil, Kaito realizes that the "princess" is actually the servant, and he tries to attack her, but Meiko stops him, because she wants Rin to feel the pain she and Kaito felt when she had their lovers killed.

Don't worry, Maya, I agree that videos are just as important as lyrics. ^^ But as I was saying, it was only revealed in "Handbeat Clocktower" who the real killer is. And in the novel(Evillious Chronicles: The Story of Evil, I only used the storyline in the wiki for now, though, because I don't know where the manga is), it was said that Neru disguised herself as Len and killed Miku. Len arrived and found Miku dead, filled with regrets because he wasn't able to confess his feelings for her.
