Hi there. Tasters are a good idea, but I think getting 2 tasters is the way to go. In my first encounter with Ya Shi, I didn't like it, it was my second encounter (after I had learned I like my oolongs brewed at 3 to 5 degrees C below recommended) where I learned I did like it. I guess, in short, use the first taster as recommended and the second taster as you have found that you like.

Exactly the same for me, I found if I brew it light at 77 for like 3 seconds, its perfect. Then after a few brews I up the temperature 👌 perfect.

Hi Don & Celine, what a wonderful video, probably one of my favorites so far (ok, they are all favorites, but this one is definitely one of the very best!) I love all your Dancongs and can’t wait to try the new “adult” 8 immortals. Pine and cedar sounds like a great new note to the family. Take care & thank you for tasting 4 Dancongs in a row! 💐❤️🙏😇🌷

Tasted all of these the last few days. I really enjoyed eight immortals. Black fruit punch was surprisingly good too but was missing a little in the cup. Honey orchid and duck shit were both good but I felt like they had more potential than I got out of them, Perhaps I needed to play with brewing parameters some

Dan Congs are the seasoned tea-drinkers' go-to choice of tea, much like the Campbeltown scotches are for whisky connoisseurs (not sure if this analogy works). Huang Zhi Xiang and Tong Tian Xiang are also really unique teas. I used to drink loads of WuYi Yanchas until I discovered a whole new world of Dan Congs.

Recently I got myself a Thermos for drinking tea at work. It a basic steel lined double walled Thermos. First brew was a iron goddess tie guan yin. Through out the day I noticed the tea liqour going from bright green to orange. To your knowledge does steel containers cause the tea to oxidize faster?
@MeiLeaf5 жыл бұрын
We have definitely noticed that metal seems to oxidise tea quicker. I have no science on it but that is what we noticed ourselves.
@mario70275 жыл бұрын
I also use a thermos like that, but just to bring the hot water from the kitchen to my desk and have it handy and still hot for some time. Then I just use the water to brew tea in my gaiwan and drink it just freshly brewed. I'd recommend doing this, you'll get some better unoxidised tea this way :)
@kingrichardiii62805 жыл бұрын
@@mario7027 thanks but the work place has no where to store items like a gaiwan and I don't want to risk it breaking. When I first started shopping with meileaf I got the travel brewing mug but after a month another worker dropped it
@glynallport71335 жыл бұрын
Just have a gaiwan on your desk and use your thermos for the water. You just need a cheapo small tea towel and your set. You don’t even need a fancy teacup, just steep into a mug from your works kitchen

Hey Don, I know this is unrelated and you're a businessman, but what kinds of teas would you recommend for someone who can't afford your tea at the moment? The shipping from your store to here(US) is more than the tea itself lol. I want to taste good teas and get into tea beyond basic blacks and greens, but I just can't justify doubling my orders with the shipping fee lol.

4 years late but Yunnan Sourcing for sure. I get my daily drivers from YS and occasionally treat myself with Mei Leaf
@inevitablesound74654 ай бұрын
5 years late, but it depends on the type of tea you’re looking for. I’d recommend vendors like wuyi origin and teahong for dancong, old ways tea and tong xin she for yancha, mountain stream tea and floating leaves for Taiwanese oolongs, bitter leaf and some taobao vendors for south Fujian oolongs(tie guan yin, mao xie, etc), one River tea for fuding whites, chawangshop and Yunnan sourcing for non-puer heicha, sweetest dew and most of the previous vendors for Chinese spring greens, farmer leaf and crimson lotus tea for young sheng puer, wistaria and chenyuanhao for boutique semi aged and aged sheng, teaswelike and yeeon for aged sheng, Yeeon and white2tea for shu puer, etc. (I left out hong/red/black tea because I don’t drink enough of it to recommend you any vendors)
