I love his solos because he incorporates beats from his other songs on moving parts so hes always playing something completely relevant. The timing, groove, fills, sound and lack of, is flawless.

The exceptional thing about Benny's playing is the fact that if you mess up the slightest bit, it can throw you off the original groove completely. If you're playing metal, jazz, or whatever, you can kind of get right back in. With this groove focused type of playing, every stroke has to be precise and intricate. And thats why Benny is so phenomenal.

+Daniel Robertson left foot lead. play the left pedal almost the same way you play the hi hat with your foot while playing a ride groove.(just straight eight notes) then the right foot plays the off beats or doubles to get the triplets.

Meinl just came out with their artist concept signature stacks. Luke Holland bullet stack, Matt Garstka Fat stack (my personal favorite stack), Thomas Lang super stack, and Anika niles deep hats. Anika's signature stack/hats is this exact one...two 18 inch vintage trash crashes used as an X hat. Benny was the first to use this and pretty sure Anika got the idea from Benny. He's been using this way before anyone else. And then they name it her signature stack? Maybe since Benny has a bunch of signature stuff already, the generation X trash hats, and his signature sand line, but I just thought it was funny cause it should really be the Benny greb signature deep hats. All the stacks sound great either way.
