exactly. I mean someone needs to review cymbals, even if they aren't great. without reviews it's harder for people to make purchase decisions

People trying to look better by lowering others is such a sad way to make your mark. Work to rise above the best, not by thinking that downing others will get you anywhere. The guy is obviously a hobby player, just trying to have fun and maybe love a lifelong dream. It's why they have adult beginner's rec leagues in most sports. No one thinks they're going pro or that they have the skills to do so, they're just adding something positive to their lives and making jabs at them is just a bad look.

Should be the other way round: Do not spend much money on an expensive kit. Better buy some nice sounding cymbals. You CAN tune your drums, but NOT your cymbals...

Chris adler uses meinl by the way
@famousforever8556
@famousforever8556 3 жыл бұрын
@@BradyStudios97 The cymbals he uses versus what is released to the public are two VERY different things. Some of my friends have endorsement deals with major labels. For the drums my buddy endorses, his kit is custom made, his sticks are made in batches separate from mass production to ensure every one is PERFECT and cymbals are custom tuned and matched PERFECTLY. For bass and guitars, same thing, custom made to spec, pick ups are custom one-offs, The wood is hand selected to ensure perfect continuity and blemish free, with several lines mass produced being made of a different species to reduce the cost for the public. Although Adler may "endorse" this line of cymbals and may have even been included in the design of the line with his name on it, but don't count on ever being able to get the cymbals he plays at the price offered to the consumer. Just the drug residue on his personal set would bump the price up significantly! 🤘

@@famousforever8556 Interesting points, outside of companies sweetening the sound by EQ and using perfect acoustical studios to make promotional vids for product sales, what you mentioned is something I've never heard, wouldn't doubt it tho. I don't think many newer drummers know what a great sounding cymbal or drum kit is unless they hear a professional multi thousand $$$ kit acoustically in real life, because most of the sales vids are altered sound for the lower end equipment.

Agreed, that’s a ton of cymbals for the money, I wish these were around when I first started playing drums, I would have had to spend more on stands than on the cymbals themselves. Stands were crazy expensive at my local music store. Finally I found out about musicians friend and finally got a straight stand for only 29$ instead of 65$

**It's really difficult to get a good representative sound recording in a small, enclosed room with solid walls like this. There's always going to be unwanted echoes and reverb, especially with loud cymbals. Although several of these don't appear to sound very good here, that may be because of recording issues, it's hard to say. I previously bought a Zildjian 4 piece cymbal set(ZHT or ZBT, I dont recall which), and they sounded pretty good. On the other hand, the very first set i ever owned, came with a 16" or 17" Sabian B8 crash, but it sounded absolutely awful! It was the only crash i owned at the time, and i cringed every time i hit it, it was 'that' bad!**

Meinl is taking over the professional drumming industry, The HCS series is a shoot and miss line sometimes. I started with a set of these for my son and he got a great sounding starter set. The 13" Hi-Hats sound better than the "Z" master sound S series Hi-Hats I started with. We kept them because they do sound so fantastic and we use them and the 10' crash and 7" crash together for a trash stack. They sound awesome as well. Hey get what sounds good to you and sometimes price works as a factor and sometimes not, with Meinl, all their stuff is musically fantastic!

Just some friendly advice bro, and just my opinion, but I played single kicks w/ double pedals for almost 11 years before switching to using 2 kicks, and what I learned was that it's best before you even think about new cymbals to just go ahead and invest in a rack. I have the Gibraltar GCS-450C rack with GCS-150C side extensions for both sides. It has saved alot of floor space, and the versatility of cymbal placement is endless. Also you should get a 2 leg or no leg hi-hat stand and a hi-hat to kick attachment. I bought and highly suggest the Mapex Falcon, it has 2 removable legs is the best Hi-hat stand I've ever used. I attached it to my left kick with the Pearl HA-130 attachment. Racks can be somewhat expensive at first especially with the multi clamp and boom arm purchases I've had to make, but it was worth it, I have alot of floor space now and my set up is perfect and everything in reach. Just a suggestion.

Those are very cheap cymbals so if u want cheap but good cymbals go to a guitar center and look at there used cymbals. Don't get menial hcs, zildjin ZBT or planet Z. Get Sabina b8, b8x, and b8pro. These cymbals are really cheap but good I bought a pare of Sabian b8 hi hats for $50 and a 14in b8 crash for $70 at my local guitar center. You can also find used cymbals on eBay, amazon, and cregslist. Also check sweatwater for new cymbals if you have a bigger budget I recommend getting zildjin cymbals like A custom, and S custom for rock, punk and metal music. If you are a more roots, jazz, pop, and blues person I recommend k custom and some paist cymbals too. Last if you have a really low budget look for woman the are good cymbals too.

They don't "suck". Quit trying to be seen as the drum guru because you only approve of heavy costing cymbals 🙄 These are well known to be amongst the best entry level cymbals out there. If you're not recording or doing gigs, they're all you need to get started and build your skill set with lessons and a lot of practice. The only thing I would caution is getting that many cymbals while still learning fundamentals. Too many cymbals, too many tons, too many distractions that will just make your playing sloppy. Hi-hats, a ride, two crash cymbals is plenty. Add splash and china when you have the muscle memory and have mastered multiple beats and rolls in many styles. Trying to make your kit look like Neil Peart's won't make your playing any more impressive.

Keep in mind, this guy is not mic-ing them individually and just using either an overhead or just the camera mic. If you know what your doing in the mix or in a small live venue, these can easily be used as home studio cymbals

About what I was expecting for cheaper cymbals, I was considering buying a kit that had these cymbals for parting out and keeping the cymbals. Thanks for your realistic review, not the sound I'm after, but at least you made an acoustic vid, unlike the crooked companies/marketers implementing EQ and falsely improving the sound just to sell a product.

You need to polish your sound too much when playing the drums, I don't think it's the cymbals

They sound pretty bad.. I cringed when the 14 inch crash was played.. No wonder such a large set is so cheap..

Do not I repeat do not buy these cymbals. I hate the sound of these things. Sounds like they were made in someone's garage.

I don’t like Meinl, they are cheap and they don’t really sound good, The bell sounds like a mini china, I’ve owned the bell before I get the comments saying I don’t know what I am talking about, I do

Jack Wilczynski you don't know what your talking about. haha. Just kidding. had to give you a hard time because you have my name. I agree with you. was thinking about getting this set until I heard them on this video. would rather just buy 1 good one at a time than a whole set that doesn't sound like I want.
