Dude, you should see if you can get Meinl to send you one of their Cajon drum sets to review..thing is badass. I bought one a year and a half ago and it is great, but might not be on a lot of people’s radars. If they’re into sending you free stuff, you should definitely try to cop one.

Sounds good. Not sure how bongo cajones are played normally but the larger “female” regular bongo is typically played on the player’s right with the smaller “male” bongo on the left. Only really makes any difference if you’re trying to learn the classic grooves like martillo and you’re right handed I guess.

Great tutorial thanks ! I would like to make 2 extra suggestions . 1. Instead of the blue tape , extra belts could be tied or clamped around it . 2. When hammering the dividers in , I’d use a bit of padding on the wood to prevent dents in the wood . Thanks for the video ! 😊

Had a cool thought yesterday. Use long double lugs of just the right length and hole spacing to connect 2 floor toms end to end to make a like a 32x16. Like mount the lugs “upside down” so they extend past the bearing edge and half screws into one drum and half into the other... bridging the gap. Only use heads and hoops on the outer ends so that it really functions like one long drum. Maybe play it like a kick drum with spurs on it since it ought to have a pretty similar internal volume to a 22” kick. Somewhere around 6000 Cu. in.

Nice. Very cool. Good, clear video with solid advice and tip as we've all come to expect on this great YT channel. Might be a fun project to do with the grandkids, too. And the price is right for sure. BTW, I'm sure that it's not written in stone or anything but looking around at other videos it looks like the normal way of playing bongos for a right handed player is to have the lower pitched drum on the right. I mess around with bongos a bit and have tried both ways. It seems to be easier and more natural to do it 'right hand low". Easier to play the 'ands' on the low drum which works well in a lot of musical situations. (as a quick example, try playing single stroke 16ths on the high drum moving the right hand to the low drum for only the "and of 1" and the "and of 3") Playing that way also gives you the same orientation as a regular drum kit, tom tom pitch-wise. Just my two cents.

Nope, I have enjoyed David's channel for some time now, and because he digs assembly required, I asked him if he would enjoy getting some stuff from us to play around with and have fun. And to be clear, I don't expect positive reviews from David. It's nice if he gives those, but really I want his honest opinion on anything we send to him. The unbiased nature of his channel should remain as is, and us appreciating his channel and sending instruments to him to check out should not change that. - Chris/Meinl
