I won the same shirt from a clinic Benny did last year, also a pair of his sticks which I got signed. He's every bit as amazing to see live and a hell of a nice guy.

ONE mistake in 7 and a half minutes that took me about 8 watches to spot and it was beautifully covered up, Benny Greb you are fuckin class!!!

Straight after 6:51, he hits a kind of bell or second hi-hat, and then does a wee roll on the floor tom. Watch his expression as he does it too. I didn't notice till like the 4th time I watched this, it's such a great video!

Complete 4-way independence is to often shown in solo's by just hitting as many different things in a seemingly patternless fashion. Benny Gred does some of this, sometimes he plays the right snare-tom when it would have been far more groovy to just use his regular snare for instance, but he has some seriously groovy stuff in here which also shows of some amazing technical skill. My favourite part is around 6:20 when he just starts a relatively simple, but extremely groovy rhytm!

@mentalrudimental At a Meinl DRUM festival, I think they do care if each of your limbs can play in different time sigs. Even non-musicians can appreciate this man's talent because he plays with such musicality.

@ernestlmorellsr Trust me, in the drum community, he gets his props. Drummers know about Benny Greb. He's in high demand in Europe as well, and he plays with several bands. It's the non-musicians that don't know about him.

some more guys to look at rick latham, dave weckl, bill stewart, neil peart, joe morello, jojo mayer, akira jimbo, rodney holmes, billy cobham, kieth carlock, brian blade, and carter bearford these are just my favorites in my opinion.

I've seen Benny a lot in clinic and concert etc. I don't think he 'has solos', I think he 'plays solos'. We all have a limited bank of techniques when it's brought down to it. You wouldn't say that 'the with-drumstick stuff is part of one of his solos'. His hand-drumming is just another way of getting more sounds out of the kit, same as his stealth-rod playing. It seems just as musical and unique to me as anything else... Just my 2c :)

just my 2 cents...this guy although not the best in any one aspect does exemplifies each one extremely well. If you want groove look at steve gadd and bernard purdie, if you want speed look at buddy rich, interdependance antonio sanchez, and the list goes on and on.
@gogogadgetspoon16 жыл бұрын
True, but I think ye can see it in his face as well. I'm not sayin anythin bad, I originally was remarking on how kick-as it was that in all this time he makes only one or two mistakes, which are so beautifully covered up they don't sound like mistakes. But I really think his face betrays it.
@gomon9015 жыл бұрын

I am not too sure If this is the answer as to why many drummers like Benny Greb do not get much Props? It could be it's not His season,..some of us have to be around a long time, or maybe He need to let others know that He'll be glad to play for or with them,or as is it with most drummers of Benny Greb's caliber some musician may feel He's too good for them to play with, The way music Technology is today any musician don't really need a band to play with or for.

Very talented guy but a good portion of his solo sound like he got kicked down a flight of stairs while soloing.Sometime these guys solos get lost in translation when playing to people who could care less if each limb can play in different time zigs.

@SandyOgilvie10 its not as impressive as some foot work thomas lang as done for sure but its cool

Reading these old ass comments hahaha!!! A few doubters on here, a couple haters too lol Well well well, I guess he was that Fkn good!! . You would have to be a fairly average drummer/musician to have not given this guy the credit he was due, even way the fk back then.

Well, it could honestly just be part but to me it feels like one of those moments where ya just cringe for hittin the wrong thing durin a solo. 6.50 to 6.55. But jesus if he didnt make a mistake then we'd have to burn him at the stake for bein a witch!:L
@gogogadgetspoon15 жыл бұрын
:L Once again, I respectfully disagree. It doesn't QUITE fit I think, and it's made all the more obvious to me by the look on his face. But hey, only the man himself knows for sure...
