Meissner effect in superconductors is the expulsion of a magnetic field from the interior of a material that is in the process of becoming a superconductor, that is, losing its resistance to the flow of electrical currents when cooled below a certain temperature, called the transition temperature, usually close to absolute zero.

Why magnetic field line are expelled out inside superconductor????? Basically what is the reason behind meisners effect ?(we all know that magnetic field lines are expelled out below the transition temperature but what is the reason behind this?

When a superconductor is cooled below its critical temperature and placed in an external magnetic field, it generates electric currents, called persistent currents, near its surface. These currents produce a magnetic field that exactly cancels the externally applied magnetic field within the superconductor.
