カラヤン二度目の全曲録音からの前奏曲。先のバイロイト盤から20年余経過したマイスタージンガーですが、流石にセッション録音だけにバイロイト盤の様な演奏ではありませんが、完全に手中に収めた感のある落ち着いた名演です。面白い事にワーグナーのオペラ録音の中でマイスタージンガーのみ旧東ドイツのオケを指揮しているのが興味深いです。戦後バイロイト以降、必ずしも演奏頻度が多く無かったマイスタージンガーですが、カラヤンらしいスケールの大きな演奏です。素晴らしい！

This has to be the best and grandest and yet melodic overtures in all of classical opera. Played to perfection by the brilliant Staatskapelle Dresden under the baton of the legendary Karajan.

この『マイスタージンガー』のレコーディングは、バルビローリが指揮する企画でプロダクションが始まりました。しかし、1968年に起こった「プラハの春」に反発したクーベリック（彼は亡命チェコ人）が音楽家たちに宛てた嘆願書「東側諸国での演奏自粛」にバルビローリが賛同しスケジュールをキャンセル、『マイスタージンガー』の制作は指揮者不在となってしまいます。レコード会社と制作陣は八方手を尽くし、カラヤンによる指揮でレコーディングの実現に漕ぎ着けます。シュターツカペレ・ドレスデンの最美な響きが魅力的な全曲盤ですね。

バルビローリじゃなくて良かったんじゃないかな、結果オーライということで。バルビもブラームスは良いのだが、『マイスタージンガー』の指揮者とは思えない。

I feel I'm hearing the overture for the first time. From the start every strand of the polyphony shines, and the whole is held together masterfully, a great city bursting at the seams with life, yet moving forward with united purpose, to a climax that explodes thrillingly at 6.25, sooner than you expected, and then sailing joyfully, serenely, to the lofty close.

おそらくブロムシュテットの自伝で言及されていた録音ですね。15回予定のセッションのはずが、カラヤンとSKDの相性が良くて9回目で前奏曲を除いて完成したところでSKD側からの15分延長が申し出てきて一発録りしたものです。そしてこの演奏のあとでカラヤンはSKDに最高の賞賛の言葉を贈っており、それを密かに録音していたものをSKD側から聞かされたブロムシュテットはSKDの首席指揮者のオファーを決断したとのこと。カラヤンが具体的にどのようなことを言ったのかは上記のブロム翁の自伝に書かれています。その部分だけでも一読の価値がある代物です。

カラヤンがシュターツカペレ・ドレースデン（Staatskapelle Dresden）のことを絶賛していたのは有名な話だね。日本の好事家(こうずか)の間ではではカラヤンが同SKD（エスカーデー）を「燻し銀」（Altsilber アルトゥズィルバー）に喩えていたことになっているが、実際には「古き金の光沢のよう」（wie Glanz von altem Gold ヴィーグランツ・フォンアルテムゴルトゥ）と形容したらしい。

Thanks for this most "genial", in Karajan's own words, of recordings of this work. Karajan said the Dresden's playing "shone like old gold".

This is arguably one of the grandest and most dramatic of all overtures, and superbly performed by the renown Staatskapelle Dresden. Thanks for sharing.

Essa é uma obra total, possui toda a força que Wagner transmitia ao ouvinte. Melodia, pureza ,substancia, poesia. Karajan, é um de seus herois, nórdicos que comanda o som ideal carregado de emoção, beleza e pureza.

This recording was actually scheduled to be conducted by Barbirolli. It's a great monumental recording in the midst of a cold war where the east and west were divided. Karajan must have been enthusiastic. Unlike the usual Berlin Philharmonic, this recording has a rather organic core of nuance. The orchestra is really eloquent and Karajanism is pulsing. The singers are confidently possessing the character to answer it. Wonderful thing is a particularly exquisite string phrasing for the lively sound projection and the dramaturgy expression that this musical composition illuminates.😂❤ 本当はバルビローリが指揮する予定だったこのレコーディングだが。東西が分断された冷たい戦争の渦中で、大変な記念碑的レコーディングだ。カラヤンは意気に感じた事だろう。このレコーディングはいつものベルリンフィルハーモニーと違い、むしろ大変有機的なニュアンスのコアが存在している様な気がする。オーケストラが実に雄弁かつカラヤンイズムが脈打っている。歌唱陣もそれに答えるべく、確信を持って役柄に憑依している。この楽曲が合い照らすドラマツルギーに肉薄した表情付けと生きた音響投影のための特に絶妙の弦フレージングが素晴らしい。😂❤

Thanks Atsumori, is this the Staatskapelle Dresden ? It is a fabulous orchestra, strings are light and clean, and the brass produces a burnished sound.

@@zahirbashir4496 Nice to contact you. That's right, Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. It is one of the rare orchestras that looks like smoked silver and can be scrutinized with different facial expressions. It would have been quite rewarding for Karajan. During the Cold War, he was invited to Salzburg in the summer at that time like a regular.

Yes, that’s right. He is the Genuine of Genuine≒Dr.Karl Böhm.
