He didn’t cheat on Britney, they were dating casually from 1998 to late 2000 (when they finally got serious). That’s why you see Brit having a fling with Ben Affleck at Jason Alexander (her 55-hour husband) in 1999 and 2000. Same goes for Justin, he was casually dating other girls before late 2000. The All Saints story was mid-2000. It was only after that they got serious and wanted to get engaged. Brit cheated when they were already serious, that was the dealbreaker.
