Gibson was born in America and spent his entire childhood in the states. He just moved to Australia with his family when he was around 12 years old. He faked his accent in the Mad Max films. He's never really had an Australian accent. He may have picked it up a little in High School and Drama School in Australia, but it was never as strong as you hear it in the Max films - that was a put on.

@@keithcanatsey9823 Uh. Making fun of crippled and handicapped people is a shit thing to do. It's not like it's something that was ever okay, dude. Are you clamoring to make fun of crippled people or something? FFS.

He has a strange accent

Gibson is American born, but grew up in Australia. His early films like Gallipoli and the Mad Max series display his Australian upbringing. So his accent was a bit of a hybrid at that time.

@@Rollin_L Actually, he grew up in America. He didn't move to Australia until he was 12 years old, so he spent his entire childhood in the states. He only spent his High School and Drama School years in Australia. His accent has always been "American"; George Miller told him to "do an Australian accent" for the Max films.

@@redadamearth Thanks for the clarification. Also, before the Mad Max films, there was Gallipoli.
