3:40 My thoughts exactly. In fact it feels like Mel is riot's apology to Seraphine mid laners. Similar concept with multiple instances of damage and combos with just a single defensive ability. Sera has a bit more utility because ult and w but Mel's q is basically a much faster less sized sera q, the e is a wider and diff condition sera e, the w is just better for her compared to sera, even old one where the solo shield was better. Still have a heavy burst ultimate but just no utility. The passive is similar as well with spellcasting giving extra damage to autos that stacks for each spell used before procc'ing the passive with auto.

@@inorial5960 She was made to be a mid laner who could flex support. That's always been the designer's claim. If he altered his wording a bit because of riot's current goals I don't know but Seraphine was always meant to be a mid laner first, now she's not a mid laner at all.

The support part is the negative, especially since instead of making her a mage support they tried to make her an enchanter. Mel won't have that problem because she has even less utility than sera, whose was really conditional and one dimensional in the first place.

Well played, but the design of her abilities (not just the current values) looks completely broken. Why does her E root pass through minions when she already has a load of other good stuff in her kit? How do you position against her as the enemy bot lane? Morgana's entire kit is designed around her powerful Q and even that doesn't pass through minions. Same with Blitz's Q. Even Lux's Q only hits up to two targets.

Doesn’t matter. Riot is dumping all their eggs into the Arcane basket, so all pre-existing Lore, Champ Design, and Balance that doesn’t shove that slop to the forefront of the game will be ignored. Mel WILL be viable at Worlds and we’re all going to like it.

I can see them nerfing E root duration, Q projectile counting for runes and items. Maybe shift power from base damage to ap ratios to make her feel less poweful with low AP items

Dark Harvest Burst execute build would literally melt the enemy team. I hate champions that burst too quickly, It forces everyone to build zhonyas/banshees, they are the strongest champions in League.
