A million thanks for your video and written tutorial. I had a written tutorial for a diamond lace wrap but the pattern writer left out crucial directions. I was very disappointed as I love this pattern. I am now able to make this into a wrap-scarf thanks to you. Again, you're a doll for taking the time with your videos and writing your tutorials out. Thank you for a brilliant video. I have followed it easily. How would you put a border around this for a blanket? Thank you
@Meladora14 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! Most of the time when I want a border I start with making a row of single crochets all the way around putting 3 single crochets on the corner, then I just experiment and even out my stitches as needed then I find an easy border pattern I like and try to add it to see if it fits. :D

just found out your amazing video and I love it. I plan to make a cardigan out of this pattern but I don't have any clue on how to decrease this pattern ? If someone has any idea to help I'd be sooo gratefull !!
@Meladora110 ай бұрын
Sounds wonderful. Given the way the pattern is worked, the only way would be to change the pattern on the ends where you plan on decreasing. Start a few rows before you actually intend to decrease so it looks more natural

I love the width you are making in the video. Can you please post how many inches wide it is and what # of chains you made? Would be so grateful.
@Meladora14 жыл бұрын
It's been so long since this video, I don't have a piece to measure. Best to go by the multiples until it's about the size you need.
@jillianfollis1461 Жыл бұрын
So how many chains did you do all together to begin with? Also, are you counting the very last one as a stitch?
@Meladora1 Жыл бұрын
This was just a sample piece, but I can tell you every multiple of 9 chains a diamond. Make it as wide as you want in multiples of 9, once you reach your desired size then you'll add the + 7 then you're ready to begin row 1. And yes I am counting the very last one as a stitch. The first and last stitch is very important in this pattern design.

Thank you so much Meladora! I really like your tutorials, I think I learned how to crochet mostly with you as well as Happy Berry. My favorite teachers! Have you ever met the other crochet teachers on KZbin? Also how do you suggest blocking this? My yarn is too bumpy. Thank you!!!
@Meladora15 жыл бұрын
Awesome to know i'm one of your favorites! I've never met any other teachers on KZbin because I moved to Israel before starting my business. Wish I could help you with blocking, but I have only done blocking once and didn't really see the point of it, so never tried it again. I'm not saying blocking is bad or wrong, only that I personally never had a use for it.
@auntviolet5 жыл бұрын
@@Meladora1 It's so funny, because you have a kind of midwest-southern accent I always pictured you in Kentucky or Tennessee, with a bunch of kids playing outside! Israel is about the last place I thought you might be recording these (well, maybe not China...) How did you wind up in Israel? My Uncle Jack became Orthodox about 20 years ago and now lives outside Jerusalem-but he still sounds like he's from New York! BTW I unraveled the first one and am now using plain old Sugar and Cream in various colors. I am thinking of doing some cross-stitching in the diamonds...Thank you!
@Meladora15 жыл бұрын
@@auntviolet it's a long story 😄 I wrote some of it in the "about me" section of my site. You got my accent down, I grew up in Oklahoma City 😄

This is such a beautiful pattern! Do you have any tips on colour changes? For example if I wanted to make a baby blanket with 2 colours in this pattern, how many rows do you recommend before I start the second colour? Would it look too busy?
@Meladora17 жыл бұрын
It goes in a diagonal pattern so that you always half half of one square one the side of half the square beside it. So if you wanted to try it I would recommend when you were on a middle row when both diamonds were 1/2 and 1/2 to change colors.
@vindab067 жыл бұрын
I just love this! What type of border do you think would flatter this pattern?

The patterns you share are versatile and lovely, and your tutorials are so clear. Thank you so much. Your instruction has helped me move up the ladder from beginner to intermediate level in my crocheting. I make items to donate to new babies in hospital, their mothers who have limited resources, family, and friends. What a wonderful, creative, and practical craft. 💗👍🏼🤗

Very pretty! I'm planning to make a table runner with this pattern. I'm a real crochet novice. Ive only done a scarf before this. I'd like to make it fine and lace like. What yarn and hook size would you recommend? Thank you!

I recommend getting some 2 ply cotton yarn and a 2 to 3 mm hook which is a B or C in the US.

Lovely stitch. Your instructions are so clear! and we all appreciate that I'm sure. It appears as if the lower portion of your work (starting chain) pulls in a little. Is that an optical illusion or does it indeed pull in a bit. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? Perhaps a foundation single crochet to start? I'd really like to hear what you have to say. Can't wait to try this one.
@Meladora17 жыл бұрын
Yes a foundation single crochet is the best way to prevent that from happening. You could try going up one hook size just to make the chain, then switch back down to your recommended hook for your project. I find that many of the people who watch me prefer to chain and that's fine with me, but if you're experienced enough to start afghans with the foundation stitches then I think you should always use it instead of chains.
