Just finished series two, wow! Wilford is a horrible man but he’s also very realistic and raw. At first I didn’t like Ruth because I fought her loyalty was dumb, but she’s actually an incredible, strong and interesting character! Probably my favourite other than Andre.

Everyone on that train should be praising her like a goddess for everything she has done to keep them alive. She is the only one with the right combination of intelligence, knowledge, experience, and compassion to actually lead that train. All the bad things she did was done because of the rules that WILFORD laid down. She had to continue to with his rules to maintain the illusion that he was still in control. She could have (and fucking should have) had everyone in the tail killed to maintain the ecological balance of the train, but instead she kept them alive and found ways to feed them, even at the expense of other passengers. And they hate her for it. They hate HER for their suffering, like she was the one who froze the world, or who built the system that they suffer in. I agree with every decision she made. When you're faced with the extinction of the human race, hard choices have to be made to keep the species alive, even if it is at the cost of individuals. The tailies were murderers. They killed people to get onto the train. They killed people by forcing the train to leave them behind. They killed each other. They killed the jackboots. They just kill and kill and kill. They are cars full of straight up murderers who have already shown they have no decency, their will to live outweighs absolutely any moral consideration what-so-ever, so it is hypocritical for them to judge Melanie for the things she has done. Tailies kill to keep themselves alive. Melanie kills to keep the human race alive.

The tallies boarded without tickets and with violence, and they have the audacity to request RIGHTS? And even to invade the entire train? @@brandonhealy7158 You have to look at the big picture. They are not living on some stable worlds with plentiful resources. Everything they eat, everything they make, everything they do matters to affect the survival of the entire human race. These are big stakes, and you need someone in charge that fully understands that and is willing to do whatever is required to ensure the survival of the species. The tallies were terrorists. Pure and simple. There is no other classification or explanation for them. None of them were invited on board, none of them had tickets, they MURDERED PEOPLE to come aboard, and shortly after starting EATING EACH OTHER. Tallies are all criminals automatically because they couldn't be on that train if they weren't. In the modern real world legal system they would all be accomplices to murder and have either been executed for their crimes or served life imprisonment. And that is just their crimes getting ON TO the train. Since then there were multiple uprisings resulting in the murders of even more passengers on the train. Every one of them that "fights" in their little rebellions are active, willing participants in murder. So no, I don't have a large amount of sympathy for them. If Melanie were not kind and empathetic as hell, she would have and SHOULD HAVE just cut power to the back of the train and let them all freeze to death as punishment for their initial murders to board the train. Instead, she let them live, as well as diverted precious resources to feeding them and keeping them alive. She provides them with power and water now. They are living in a social welfare system of her design to keep them alive which is already straining the resources of the train. So when the leader of their terrorist organization is on the loose, knows your big secret that will INEVITABLY lead to civil war and result in many many deaths, then yes, you do whatever it takes to prevent that. Layton and the tallies fucked the train. They are the ones who disrupted the order there. Because of their actions, how many hundreds of people died on both sides? And then after he assumed control, he started doing the same kind of shit Melanie did. He even ordered a man to be executed. If Layton had the job long enough, and he was wise enough, he would've become worse than Melanie. Layton already sacrificed lives on his own people to save his own. The tallies are terrorists, not freedom fighters, not heroes, they are villains. And they might dance around in front of the camera and try to look like normal people, but their terrorist organization has killed more people on that train than the oppressive government that ran it. Think about that for a moment.
