every song is in order of each grade, we start with wheels on the bus (kindergarten), and end with recess (12th grade) so the film helps visualize crybaby growing up. her hair also changes constantly to show gradual character growth, while the bully kelly never changes at all to show how she never matures/grows.

All of her songs has a super intense meaning behind it. Whether it’s body positivity/negativity, school, everyone should really hear what she’s saying. But it’s so intense it’s hard to understand because of the way she expresses what it means. If you really think about it when the dude said “To control us” while her and Kelly where in the principal office. School really does control you. Tell you when to sit quiet, raise your hand, when to talk, all of that. Then her song The Principal she when deeper into that. Also the part when another dude was talking about the pledge of allegiance is crazy because no one was really thinking about it until now in this generation. So she was basically one of the first to say what the actual meaning was behind it. People really don’t hear because they thinks she’s weird or whatever but she is actually SO damn creative it’s out of this world. Then she the director of this movie? Damn.

y'all I think I just figured something out. the scene where Kelly throws the note at crybaby where it says "you at recess" I think was foreshadowing portals. recess is the name of the last song/plays during one of the final scenes in the movie, and when they go through the portal their physical bodies presumably die. I'm either connecting things that aren't there or I just uncovered something lmao
