I think the meaning of the song is that if you've done something, you can't reverse it. Like 'he's still dead when your done with the bottle' the man is dead, you can't do anything to bring him back to life. I remember I was 9 years old when I discovered her through a gameplay where a nightcore version of Cake was playing in the background, and even I knew something was off with this song and I was bit afraid to listen to it or sing it out loud like I did with all her other songs. I was too young for her music's meaning lol but it's still my childhood and Melanie shaped me in both bad and good ways. If you know, you know, and if you don’t, I guess that’s a good thing. I have always admired Melanie Martinez, I’m back here after years, with this song still being my favorite by her. If you are struggling, you can always get better. Seven months recovered, and counting, coming from someone who was hopeless, depressed, starving themselves, suicidal, and strung out on drugs last December. (I had been struggling since 2016) Now everyday I wake up, I try to do better than the day before, and I help people with anything that I can. I am happy with how far I have come, and am in the process of building a life worth living.
