Melanie Oxley with the Triffids

Melanie Oxley sings I Want To Conquer You with the Triffids at The Metro in Sydney in January 2008 as part of a show in tribute to the band's songwriter David McComb called A Secret In The Shape Of A Song. Sydney Festival staged the show and the social collective produced a documentary called It's Raining Pleasure, directed by Steven Levett. The show has since played a Hamer Hall in Melbourne and at The Perth Festival. It's Raining Pleasure is available on dvd distributed by Madman. A Secret In The Shape Of A Song will be coming to The Barbican in London on 9th April 2010.

Truly wonderful- tears me apart and puts me back together again. Follows the great pop rule of getting a girl to sing a song from a male perspective- ie, "These Boots Are Made For Walking" or "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" etc. Also, so wonderful to see Ricki from the BJM contribute so respectfully here, you can sense his love of McComb's music and what it meant & referred to. This concert feels like some epochal event of the descendants of old-australia, somehow embodying the lives of the people onstage and in the audience.
