We had a local British Fish & Chippery take away shop “Friar Tuck” that moved to St Kilda and if it is still around, they had Haddock and mushy peas. I like our Aussie fish but my husband loved a special fish treat from the UK occasionally. We lived in St Kilda many many years ago but our favourite beach was Elwood.

You HAVE to go to Point Ormond lookout for the best scenic sunset! Even the locals continue to regularly visit this magical breathtaking spot ! From St.kilda marina it’s a short 11 minute walk. Just turn left from the marina when you’re facing the ocean and just walk up the small grass hill when you get there!!

I hope each of you got a MYKI card for cheap public transport on trams, trains and buses which will increase your flexibility to explore broader areas cheaply. I am looking forward to your future presentations as they contain the human touch that many others fail to provide. Until the next time au revoir.

Melbourne used to be the richest city in the world at the height of the gold rush in the mid 1800's. Some great buildings and was planned very well with lots of parks and wide streets. The blue sky is my fave. Nothing as blue as an Aussie sky.

Couldnt agree more Mark, the reason we moved from England was despite the weather being 'unpredictable' as people have told us in Melbourne, it always seems to bright and I dont think you can beat that (Edd)

Welcome to Melbourne! To a beautiful couple! You’re so new so have so much to see and do. Just around the corner from where you are you can see the penguin colony at St.Kilda pier (yes they do come so close to our major city not just Philip Island). Check them out one night. Also there is so much more to see. Yes you came to prob one of the coldest cities on the mainland, except in summer when we can get into the 40’s. People always complain that Melbourne doesn’t have the glam of Sydney and it’s true. Sydney has the bridge and the opera house, but Melbourne the food, fashion, coffee and the nicest people you will meet in Australia! We are the home of the arts and sports! I hope you both get to spread around the city more and see our beautiful city. Some things not to forget tho are; proper penguin meet at Philip island, a drive along the great ocean road (the worlds biggest war memorial) the Grampians, Mornington Peninsula and much more more outside of the city.. I really hope you love our city and our state. We are very proud of where we live 😊

Sorry I’m so biased but I love my my city very much (even tho my dad left Richmond twickenham at 11 yrs old and moved to AU and settled in Melbourne) there is so much more for you to explore ….. like Wilson’s Promerty, with such areas of squeaky beach (yes it does squeak when you walk on it) and mount Oberon for breathtaking views …..or feeding parrots from your hands in Willismsons prom. You will love it. There’s so much to see like the pink lakes. Don’t stop visiting your new home …… it will keep you wondered of such beauty x

Welcome to Australia. I noticed you saying that you bought more clothing, Because it's still a bit cold, Victoria can be cold wet overcast windy. Sometimes all in the same day. But wait until summer 🏖🌞 , Don't forget your sunscreen. If you ever want to explore some nice beaches, maybe try going down to the Mornington peninsula. Surf or the bay Sorrento very nice. A bit of trivia for you Ugg Boots are Australian and is the name for a traditional type of sheepskin boot first worn by sheep farmers in the early 1900s. They became popular here in the 60/70s with surfers in winter. The design was stolen and the name UGG registered by an American footwear company after some surfers had taken a few pair back to California. The only place Australian and NZ manufactures can now use the name UGG Boot is here at home. When the manufacturers in Australia were challenged by the US copyrite owner the Australian courts ruled that you cannot block the use of a name that has always been a term used to describe a type of footwear. The motto of the story is if you want to buy genuine pair of UGG boots you need to buy them in Australia or NZ because in others parts of the world they will be the fake US look a likes. The cheap imitation sheepskin boots you find in places like markets, Kmart, BigW etc are usually made in China and are not genuine UGGs - the real ones will be a lot dearer and nowadays they will probably set you back something like $200. Enjoy your time exploring and getting to know Australia...
@TrudyandEddTravel3 ай бұрын
Uggs in the UK can be close to 300AUD!! It really reflects as there was SO many at victoria market. Thanks for such an insightful comment!
@Davo-i1s3 ай бұрын
@@TrudyandEddTravel and unless it actually says made in Australia on them they will be either Chinese or the American copy. I didnt even know that they had sheep in the US to make Uggs from but there you go. 😃 When I was in Carmel in Californus in the 80s a surf shop was selling Aussie made Uggs for USD$300 when they were only around AUD$50 to buy here.
