+Irvin Morales I think his biggest weakness was himself. He just loved to fight too much and that ultimately proved to be his undoing. He deserves to be in the HOF. To this day, people remember Taylor for his flashiness, his exciting style, and for the fights he was involved with.
@hanzagod8 жыл бұрын
+Irvin Morales Well I suppose it depends what you base a hall of fame worthy career on, Taylor wouldn't be the worst to be inducted but he'd certainly be very far from the best. I'd vote him for the HOF, he's got some really good wins and in his prime he was insanely talented.

Meldrick was an exceptional talent it's just too bad no one was looking out for his best interests. The Chavez fight should have been stopped by the ringside doctor and/or his corner after rd 10 (his face was really swollen) And his promoter and manager should not have let him get back in the ring less than 5 months after the Chavez fight. He should have at least taken 8 months off to heal properly. Then just two years later he's fighting Terry Norris for the 154lb title? His body frame was that of a lightweight.

Respect to Taylor. Fought everyone, never "pick and choose" opponents. This is what set him apart from fighters like Mayweather. Floyd protected his record by fighting who he wanted, when he wanted at the weight he wanted. Sorry but the world knows this. Taylor, Leonard, Tyson they all have loses because to be the best, you must fight the best. A lost to a great boxer counts more than 10 wins to an ok boxer or a boxer who's prime has passed.

Taylor beats chavez unofficially but in exchange for that was a career ending beatdown. Theres a clip in reels where mike said in his podcast that the fights were fixed when he was still fighting like the refs are already fixed to help him, I cant find the link but I think he was high while explaining that. Also lets add the fact that the episode in hbo boxing legendary nights chavez vs taylor, there were also speculations about richard steele and don king in fixed fights, and tyson was under don king around this time. Fixed or not, but because of their gameplan, the refs call for stopping the fight was just about right, shouldve been early like before reaching championship rounds, he shoudlve let the doctors check taylor if he was still okay to go. Its sad that his best fight went down that way. A true HOF, olympic gold medalist high rated pro 💪💯🏆

@@hanzagod I forgot to say that I didnt mean to say that the fight itself was fixed. What I mean was the refs call, idk if the judges were involve. rocket5557 if that same circumstance would have happened earlier in the fight would it have been ok to stop it? Look at it closely n check out how hurt he was

Chavez was not in the furthest neutral corner as stated in the preflight instructions, had Steele sent him to the neutral corner, the bell would have rung.

Abdellah Ismail Taylor should have played it safe. He was up on the scorecards, why take chances? But yeah, controversial stoppage no doubt

@@elmaromero8585 Taylor loved to get into brawls too much. Plus, his corner stupidly told him that he was behind on the cards (he wasn't) and that he needed to go out and fight the final round. It surprises me that trainers as great as Lou Duva and Georgie Benton would give him such terrible advice.
