I swear, I can hear in the distance a certain lord Simmerson screamin' "Sharpe!".

This looks fun, reminds me of my old training sessions! We used to do "kill the king", similar concept.

Nice, and yep we used to do that one too. Escort the king is also fun, and these Eagle games are a derivative of that with specific weapon selections to match the scenario.

The rules should not consider the eagle taken until the person who has taken it shouts "Bejabbers, boys, I have their cuckoo!"

It's a great attempt. Skirmishes are always popular. The battle between special forces and guerrillas, and the battle between the main character and the organization is a major genre of movies. Regarding pole weapons, do you reproduce German, Italian, and British manuals in sparring? That is also interesting.
@AcademyofHistoricalFencing3 жыл бұрын
The only pole arm manual we currently work from is Meyer's short staff and halberd. Sadly there is really nothing British spontoon and halberd wise to work from. Not even bayonet really until the Victorian era.
@papermap16463 жыл бұрын
@@AcademyofHistoricalFencing Oh, I didn't know that was the case. There are many manuals for staff art in Britain, so why not try using them? There are great masters such as Silver, Zach and SWETNAM.

We use Meyer for pole arms because we already work from Meyer for longsword, rapier and dussack, and so it fits with the system we are already teaching. Meyer's staff section is also vastly more detailed that those British sources which gloss over staff in very short sections. We aren't attached to using British sources anyway. We work from British sources for sabre/broadsword because I (Nick) love the Napoleonic era and weapons so much, but we like a broad selection of weapons and styles from many countries.

@@AcademyofHistoricalFencing I understand. Mayer also has excellent polearm technique. I want to see more polearm battles!
