I spend a lot of time on You Tube watching Melinda's work. Blessed with a truly great voice... she entertains, she's beguiling, and always makes me go away happy. Sincere, caring, warm, friendly, witty and inteligent... if she wants it... she can be a SuperStar...!!!

No idea why I began to cry seeing that audition again. Maybe it was seeing the judges so supportive and appreciative. Maybe it is Melinda's amazing voice. Melinda grabs you right in the gut and leaves you speechless. My reaction the first time I saw this audition was exactly like the judges': WHOA!! Where in the WORLD did this lady come from?! Incredible power, fantastic dynamics, marvelous energy and interpretation, and gentle humility underlying her amazing talent. She's got it all. Someday I would love to meet Ms. Doolittle. She's my Idol and ideal.

All my oractice i ever put into singing so i'm ready for the day i stand in front if Randay, Paula, Simon. And then i look atr this and i know i got soem practice to do. Melinda will always be my idol when it comes to music. So modest, and yet so talented. When Jordin Sparks shined her true talent at country week, thats when i stopped believing Melinda would win. But i knew she was going to get close. She's such a loveable person

Oh My God, Melinda is AMAZING! She was one of the few people that I really wanted to win. honestly, she's amazing and can carry out any tune. To be able to carry out a note that strong, but also be able to do quiet sweet songs is a really huge accomplishment.

What a transformation: from this nervous but capable caterpillar to a later confident and battle-tested butterfly! Some said her humility was not genuine, but that's because they can't imagine anyone this talented being so un-affected by their gift of song. Masterclass Lesson 1: be and stay humble 'cause God did it for you; you didn't and couldn't do it for yourself. Melinda sets the correct example, IMO.

Listen to her sing the difficult second line "For once I have someone I know won't desert me" That is a very very hard line to sing because the notes come down cromatically, and sung with power. This woman is so good, and pitch perfect that truly American Idol producers had no idea what they had before them. This gift of a person & of a voice will not come around again any time soon. We won't see a gift like this next season, or if ever at all again.
