Here's what I used to use for my drugstore 'no makeup, but I actually spent a considerable amount of time on my face' look! It's changed up as I mix in Sephora products, but this is a solid line that has never failed me. - Maybelline age rewind twist up under eye concealer - L'Oreal True Match Foundation - L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara - Milani Lumimoso Blush - Milani pencil eyeliner for tightline - NYX jumbo eye pencil in 'French Fries'

As an esthetician, I stopped using chemical SPF bc it is inactive after 15-45min. That’s why directions say to reapply. But if it’s under your foundation application becomes difficult. A nice physical SPF is a mineral SPF. Peter Thomas Roth makes a really good one that can be reapplied thru out the day over top your makeup. Coola makes a nice setting spray that has SPF in it as well that you use over foundation and spray as needed. It’s not that bad just pretty expensive. Maybe you can try out these products and give your thoughts?
@MarieSAnderson715 жыл бұрын
I've also read that chemical sunscreens are bad for melasma since chemical ss converts light into heat in the skin and heat exacerbates melasma. Physical ss just blocks the rays. I also have a terrible reaction to chemical ss, burning and redness (kinda what you're trying to prevent!) so I only use physical ss. I really like the Paula's Choice Resist Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30
@Nicolsol5 жыл бұрын
Physical sunscreen still needs to be reapplied. All sunscreens should be reapplied multiple times through out the day in order to ensure maximum protection from the sun. Therefore it doesn’t matter what sunscreen you use, it’s more about consistency and applying enough.

Thanks for speaking up about protecting your skin from sun damage. I had melanoma at age 22 (I'm a redhead, so genetically predisposed, but still) and I'm so grateful that the surgery was able to remove it. If it had spread I probably wouldn't be alive now. I'm so glad this awareness is finally becoming mainstream, and people are starting to take skincare really seriously.

I used to love Dermalogica for years, but then around 2016/17 there was this massive repricing of all of their products, and I felt like a large part of it was to 'keep up' with the prices of other brands. I felt that the brand itself had done nearly no overhaul in the actual products - I honestly don't think any was needed - and the price increase only reflected a desire to be viewed as on-par with new brands like Drunk Elephant, Tatcha etc. From memory, I recall some of their facial skincare products jumping nearly 35-40% in price - an increase that would be difficult to attribute to the actual rise in cost of any material ingredient, or passing on combined manufacturing cost increases onto consumers. I still love the brand, but this video just reminded me of why I haven't purchased the Dermalogica Solar Defense Boo$ter. Alas - I'm in a time where there are plentiful products.

Jenny Pham watch Dr. Dray’s channel here for the best sunscreen and skincare advice. She has tons of recommendations for sensitive skin and helps us go to a more simplified routine to heal our skin. She’s a board certified dermatologist too. Extremely helpful and solid advice. It’s not a makeup channel, I’m living for Melissa’s channel for that but, her skincare and sunscreen advice is top notch!
@BlackThorndRose5 жыл бұрын
Rachel I I’m not a fan of Dr. Dray. She’s kind of a one size fits most with her skincare recommendations and the brands she speaks about the most. She will rarely stray away from those, and I don’t see her branching out unless she’s asked to review a brand, and they never seem to be positive reviews. She’s one of those “just use Cetaphil or CeraVé” dermatologists and anytime I went to a dermatologist like that, that automatically recommended those brands, they tend to overlook what really needs to be addressed when it comes to specific skin concerns. Those brands are great for an extremely simple routine, maybe for teenagers for example, because they don’t contain actives, any anti-aging ingredients, ingredients for acne prone skin, specific skin conditions, etc. I think there are many other skin experts here on KZbin that can give much broader recommendations based on what you need.
@racheli25985 жыл бұрын
BlackThornRose127 I understand what you are saying as her recommendations are very simplified compared to most but maybe that’s the way her channel used to be? Right now it’s much more than Cetaphil and Cerave. I don’t care much for their products either. Sunscreens she talks about now include Paula’s Choice, Elta MD, Altruist, Dr Sam’s, Clinique even, lots of Korean brands and skincare too. She’s got a lot to offer in my opinion but I can understand her personality is not for everyone.
