Thank you for gentle, not invasive, music in the background. It allowed me to engage with what you were saying. Can't wait to apply everything I've learned.

There's another way. If you file and shape quickly between coats, after activating every coat, you'll have a lot less work at the end. I find that activating every coat and shaping one coat at a time really cuts down the filing time. Yes, you'll lose some of the layer, but if you want a smoother second layer, it's worth it. As you work, the filing time is shorter and shorter because you've already taken a few seconds to rough shape the nail as you go. Also, you are completely sure that the deepest layers are fully activated, which will help with lifting.

That’s a great idea. I’m new to dip powder and prone to gel allergies. I’m trying dip because I miss my nails! Is it safe to activate between dip layers?

Ever since I followed your filing method, my nails have looked so much better!! They are not bulky on the sides anymore and they are crisp. Thank you for this and your previous videos on filing as it has saved my mani's. Now that im in the habit, it's so much quicker now to do my nails💜💕

So funny that you just posted this video today, because I OVER-filed my set yesterday and was looking to re-educate myself on filing. Thank you for this video!

Hey Melissa you read my mind! I thought it was just me with the lumpy dip powder before filing. 😜 I too used to file like your old way but have learned over time to do better. Thank you for validating my methods and making me feel better❣️

Thank you for video ❤️ I’m so convinced now that so much of it depends on your foundation before you dip also..I’ve watched so many videos on filing and still watch them over and over and always learn something new..also find it easier to get in a habit with filing..

Hi, I know this an older video but thank you so much for showing how to file! This is the one area I have trouble with since I started dipping. I for sure have not been filing enough.

This was awesome!! I got away from using the hard file but for the end and end sides. I use to do the sidewalls but just stopped once I learned the right ration of liquid to powder and my nails were no longer 1/2” thick! 😅 BUT I was having those bumpy side walls with little dips and looking raggedy as you showed in your first example. Thank you for this excellent video and your concise explanation too! I’m following you too!

So glad to find this video❣️ I was scrolling through, looking for another one that I had in mind. I've also shared it with my 25 yr old daughter, whom I gifted all the starter supply as a Christmas gift this year. ❤️ She was SO excited. Thanks for your videos that cover the details. Because, as we all know... Details Matter ❣️😊

My sissy was my guinea pig. It was my first time doing a dip powder. I was wondering why her nails ended up sandy looking lol I was supposed to file it down 😅 Good to know! As always, I love your nails. I'm ordering the double dipp'd liquid sets! I'll make sure to use your code. Thanks 😁

Thank you so much for this video. You're my favourite nail content provider and role model for improving my manicure skills! I love your finished shape. Do you have any tips on protecting your side walls from being nicked or abraded by the file?
@MelissasManis2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! And yes, be sure your files are seasoned! That means you'll file down the sharp edges of the file so they aren't harsh on the skin ❤️❤️❤️

When using the gel method instead of dip liquids, should/could I be building an apex as well? I feel like when I use gel method my nails always have like a “dip” from my cuticle to my free edge…

Would you recommend an e-file for this to get the job done faster?
@MelissasManis3 жыл бұрын
I don't use an efile on myself just because I feel more in control with the hand file. I'll use an efile to smooth on others sometimes. If you feel comfortable enough with an efile you definitely can.
