How Long Can Humans Survive The AGE OF DESPAIR? (0.21 Update) - Worldbox

Today I wanted to to try out the new Age Of Despair from the Worldbox 0.21 update. We're giving three empires 25 years to develop before we send them into the age of despair and seeing how long they can survive!

Spawning a empire in the permafrost biome is actually a best case scenario as the trees don't die to cold

Not only that, but the food that spawn in those biomes have a chance to give people the freeze proof trait which is really helpful in the age of despair.

In the age of sun you get random huge wildfires that when they burn stuff down spawn fire monsters which cause more fires making more monsters and can easily wipe out civilizations that arnt in fireproof biomes definetly would reccomend doing a video on it!

The biome could be not fireproof. If you look closely on people in the city that has fire, you may notice that they try to fight it. And if population is 50+ then city most likely wont burn in any case. If the time is peaceful

What I most like, is that once the empires hit a critical mass and get really BIG, they just ignore the cold ones and keep raging war at each other because they are so storong that just doesn't matter the age they are in.

It's not true. In the age of despair (I tested it) if you don't live on permafrost biome you can't get enough food. Any civilization not in permafrost slowly dies out of hunger anyways.

I think an age of wonder into an age of despair would give them a much better chance to survive, at least until the "Magic" runs out. After ~5 or 10 years it just turns into a hard reset unless the cold ones instantly disappear in other ages.

In my experience, Age of sun is pretty underrated on a scale of dangerous. I've seen whole kingdoms fall due to everything just burning down.

Understand but the game is not on that level to properly work, there must be some changes so it will be possible, remember, breaking houses and others structures are really easy, imagine walls always falling down , the game is not ready for that, if Maxim just added it, people could start to get mad and complain about everything going wrong in the game... and ending up making the Dev getting stressed out.

Pinecones are edible. Depending on if its a pinecone or a sprucecone. The needles can be made into tea, the seeds can be roasted, the inner layer of the bark has a sort of nutty flavor, and they can be rendered into a syrup. Pine pollen can also be used as a flour. It's not a fancy food but for a hunter gatherer societies like the early stages of Worldbox villages it makes sense to eat. For a common food made using pinecones, look up pine jam.

Fun fact, pinecones can be eaten, it's where pine nuts come from... but they are so tiny and unfilling, it's best to just keep the pinecones for making new trees.

You should try to make a world with titanic mode, and all settings turned on except noise main level, random shapes, noise details, and noise bonus. (You can use any template that’s an island) It generates really cool worlds.

Did some testing on my own time and figured out how the cold ones spawn in age of despair. The snow storms that spawn (either naturally or player made) in the age of despair convert CHILDREN into COLD ONES when snow lands near to them.

Dont get me wrong I appreciate the work the devs put into this little game, but the ages system is rather disappointing. Nothing much happens other than the environmental changes, especially during the ''age of darkness'' even though the game's description of it is similiar to Castlevania's night creatures running amok and causing chaos. Hope they'll expand on that in later updates.
