Is there a way to slow down the speed of the laser when it is framing in LB? Great tips BTW!

You can control the framing speed by adjusting the jog speed in Move window. Glad you liked the tips. 🙂

Good tutorial sir. I traced a photo of a logo on a building and want to fill it. When I checked the laser time it said it took oitn3 objects because it can cause problems. I guess the question is how do you trace a photo to make it more pronounced by filling it? I used the line tool and group them but it won’t fill them. Any tips? 🙏🏼

From what I understand, you traced an image of a logo, and when trying to run the engraving process, LightBurn throws up some error. The most likely issue can be that there might be some open shapes in the design which prevent LightBurn from using fill mode for them. If error displayed in LightBurn reads "shapes were set to fill, but weren't closed", then you can select the shape that is causing the issue, set the layer to fill, and navigate to Edit > Close selected paths with tolerance, then increase the threshold distance until the shape closes automatically.

a question if you may be able to offer any suggestions, i have a 10w diode i recently upgraded the gears and belts gt2 16t, since i changed them my bed size has reduced from 400x400 to 320x320, trying to engrave a tile 200x200 and it starts framing at a different point as my template and only frames 170x170, to i need to change anything in lightburn to accommodate the change of gears and belts?

This issue might be happening because the new belts and pulleys you upgraded might be different from the ones that came with your machine originally. The steps/mm setting for your setup is like a pre-set measurement in the machine's controller, and it doesn't automatically know when you change the hardware. So, you'll have to manually adjust the steps of the machine to make sure it works correctly. To do this, you'll need to find out the Belt pitch and Pulley tooth count. In your case, it should be 2mm and 16 (you can check this by looking at the details of the new belt and pulley you used). You'll also need to know the Motor step angle and Driver microstepping for your setup. Once you have these details, you can use a Stepper Motors Calculator to figure out the Steps/mm value for your setup. Then, connect your laser to Lightburn and go to Edit > Machine Settings. There, you'll see the settings for X steps per mm ($100) and Y steps per mm ($101). Depending on the axis you upgraded, enter the new value from the calculator, and click Write. Once you click Write, Lightburn sends the command to the controller to save the new settings. Note: The values under the Machine Settings are crucial, so it's a good idea to back up your current settings before making any changes. Click "Save to File" to create a backup of your settings. Better safe than sorry!
