Edit: The paragraph below was written under my assumption that the word “melodic“ has only one meaning in the English language, which isn't the case actually. Hi Clément, I honestly do not know the other tracks' subgenres. Techno is not my favorite branch of music, maybe just because I feel the lack of nice and original melodies in the foreground. Or maybe Techno music with a prominent melody isn’t Techno anymore, but Trance, and so I expected too much. Let’s take 30:00 Supacooks: Aftermath for an example, consisting of the following elements: bassline, beat (kick, snare, hat), pad, arpeggio. What is supposed to be the melody in there? Can you pick a time-stamp for that? At 32:32 the only elements playing are a kick-less beat and the arpeggio. Do you consider an arpeggio to be melodic? Or would you say that what I call an arpeggio is actually the melody? If yes, our disagreement is clarified.

There is pretty clear definition what melody means and that does not really care what your personal definition of melodic is. Not every track needs obvious trance/edm cheap happy melody you can sing along to be called melodic. If you cant see difference between music in this set and normal techno its maybe mainly because you are not into techno as you wrote yourself, so maybe go listen some music you like and understand?

Obviously our standards for melodics differ severely. An arpeggio isn't melodic from the get-go. First it's a chord played tone for tone instead of in unison. It can be used melodically, but to accomplish that you have to create a characteristic sequence, distinguishing it from the rest.This isn't accomplished just by turning chords into arpeggios, or else you'd end up declaring every single track containing more than a single note to be melodic. Still, if that's all you expect when you read “Melodic Techno“, consider yourself lucky, whereas I consider myself disappointed, because the title is stressing the definition of “melodic“ quite sadly, referring to its weakest interpretation. Yet we have something in common: We both disrelish cheap happy Trance/EDM/etc. melodies. I'll keep on searching for something to still my ambition for Melodic Techno. I'll let you know when I strike something.

Btw pickinig up random part of piece of music and analyze just that part to prove your point is little bit off, maybe if you would listen whole track you're talking about from start to end you would found that there is more melodic elements beyond that arp. Basically what you are saying in your first post is that you dont know what genre "melodic techno" means and that most of that tracks in that genre does not fullfil you musically, thats just your taste and you have full right for that, but dont blame name of the genre or label of this set, because that is correct.
