We need to normalize black women elevating themselves and having enough self esteem to walk away from situations that endanger their well being. If Martell fathered a child outside his marriage that suggests that he failed to use a condom, which definitely endangered Mel’s life. In essence it’s as if he was playing Russian roulette with her life. So why would anyone expect Mel to stay with him after all that he has done to her? Mel, is not responsible for Martell’s children getting together, she is only responsible for supporting a healthy relationship between their children and Martell. Mel was setting things in motion for her divorce for a while. Mel leveled up and secured the bag because she knew she would have to lead the way for her children. Mel is strategic in her personal and professional life. Mel is going to continue doing well. I applaud her for being courageous enough to walk away and to walk in her truth.

The one thing I want to see from Melody in the next season is for her not to engage in the same arguments with Martell...who cheated on who , who stepped out 1st, etc, etc. Their relationship as man and wife is a rap. Doesn't matter at this point. Majority of what they say to eachother is out of anger and I would just not allow him to get under my skin anymore. She knows her truth and thats all that matters. Let the jabs and underhanded comments go. Your children will see these episodes some day. Focus on your future ahead and co-parenting and ensure your kids are mentally sound. That should be the primary focus now. Great interview overall. Melody was always driven and a go getter and that shows in her personality. That's what attracted Martell in the first place.

Dr.heavenly..it’s ok that she doesn’t speak with the side chick. .it’s not necessary for them to be friends or acquaintances. Sometimes people don’t speak to their blood family. It’s ok

@12:45…..funky dineva has mentioned this a few times over the years. That toxic “Black barbershop talk” of other black men influencing and/or endorsing “respectful cheating” on their wife of girlfriend. No accountably. Just Sad AF!!!

Great interview. Refreshing to hear Mel tell her story without that high pitch screaming. She seemed really open n honest. Wishing her well.

I am first to comment. Mel is like so many women, when they're done then it is over. I love Melody, though she has flaws just like everyone else but overall I like her.

Why would she get back with a narcissistic person. Love don’t have nothing to do with it. That’s what happens to women who use their heart instead of their head. Amen Melody. Abuse in any form is not acceptable.
