We need to normalize black women elevating themselves and having enough self esteem to walk away from situations that endanger their well being. If Martell fathered a child outside his marriage that suggests that he failed to use a condom, which definitely endangered Mel’s life. In essence it’s as if he was playing Russian roulette with her life. So why would anyone expect Mel to stay with him after all that he has done to her? Mel, is not responsible for Martell’s children getting together, she is only responsible for supporting a healthy relationship between their children and Martell. Mel was setting things in motion for her divorce for a while. Mel leveled up and secured the bag because she knew she would have to lead the way for her children.
